5th choice striker currently is the reality. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.
Only way a loan benefits us is if we go down we'll have a really good forward for the Championship. If he does have to go I hope it is only a loan because he's got so many positive attributes aside from being arguable the most natural finisher we've had at the club in years.
Sell him and we lose seeing that potential realise itself in a Forest shirt. A loan will give him game time and make him a better player who can come back to show us what he's got.
My assumption here is he ask, club said not available.Sam Surridge is not available. Liam Delap is someone we looked at, he picked Stoke over us and West Brom. Ellis Simms was someone we looked at but he picked Sunderland over us.
I could see Surge staying around, at least till January.Could easily see him leaving, I like him as a player but not sure he's top flight standard and he's at an age where he needs regular football.
What I will say though is that he's a player we should actually make money on if he went permanently. He's surely worth more than the 2m we paid in January.
But harsh on Taiwo-hes hardly had much time on the pitch. For sure hes not a "rounded" striker but he brings pace and a bit of strength and I suspect is a pretty good finisher from what I've seen so far.Only way a loan benefits us is if we go down we'll have a really good forward for the Championship.
If we plan on remaining a PL club for years then Surridge won't ever get a regular game IMO. It's cruel but that's top level sport. For what its worth I think he's a better option at the moment than Taiwo but you'd expect that if we stay up and establish ourselves at this level then the calibre of striker we'll be looking at will be higher than Surridge.
We played the last game without one...We are not exactly flush with strikers and they are all pretty similar.
Idiots; he'd be a great signing for them, and is quite probably already out of their reach.Very interesting to see his apparent link with boro has not gone down well with their fans and they don't want him
He isn't, and he's a totally different type of player, but you're right we should keep him.I'm not letting Sam go. I think he's better than Dennis (limited evidence). The minute he goes two of our strikers will be injured.
I haven't seen Sam bury any chances in the Premier League yet. Have Dennis or Awoniyi missed many yet?On the evidence of the six games so far this season Sam is by far and away our best finisher. It would be madness to move him on. He needs to be playing more imho.
Well, I did write "on the evidence of the six games played so far", and that includes Grimsby. In the Prem, Sam has barely played, but I recall him missing one clear headed opportunity. Taiwo, I believe, has played in every game so far, league and cup, and scored and contributed to one goal - the one that bounced off him - while also missing several other opportunities to score. I'll add that I'm not criticizing Taiwo, just pointing out in response to your reply that using the only comparative metrics available then my original assertion stands: Sam is our best finisher. And in order to win matches then surely finishing is the most important variable?I haven't seen Sam bury any chances in the Premier League yet. Have Dennis or Awoniyi missed many yet?
The game is not only about finishing, it's about build up too. Sam's not so good there.
