5th choice striker currently is the reality. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave.

Up to a certain level he is a very good player, but he does rely on getting the ball in space a lot rather than making space. But he is working on it, I was keeping an eye on himon Sunday and when he came on he was trying to move the defence around to make space for himself.

At the end of the day does Coops see him as someone who can improve/hold his own against the new guys.... I think he's got a lot of good attributes that need exploring I think its a hard call for Coops

Could easily see him leaving, I like him as a player but not sure he's top flight standard and he's at an age where he needs regular football.

What I will say though is that he's a player we should actually make money on if he went permanently. He's surely worth more than the 2m we paid in January.

Cooper has been honest with every player about their place in the squad and how he plans to use them, he hasn't been feeding everyone false promises about game time

Surridge is a very hard working professional who wants to be playing football, as much as I hope he sticks around I wouldn't blame him for seeking regular minutes elsewhere. If that's the case I hope it's just a loan

It's easy for us to say he should stick around and continue developing with us but you won't find many 24 year old strikers who are happy to sit on the bench for the majority of a season, premier league or not

If he does have to go I hope it is only a loan because he's got so many positive attributes aside from being arguable the most natural finisher we've had at the club in years.

Sell him and we lose seeing that potential realise itself in a Forest shirt. A loan will give him game time and make him a better player who can come back to show us what he's got.

Only way a loan benefits us is if we go down we'll have a really good forward for the Championship.

If we plan on remaining a PL club for years then Surridge won't ever get a regular game IMO. It's cruel but that's top level sport. For what its worth I think he's a better option at the moment than Taiwo but you'd expect that if we stay up and establish ourselves at this level then the calibre of striker we'll be looking at will be higher than Surridge.

Was also sought after by Cardiff.

Sam Surridge is not available. Liam Delap is someone we looked at, he picked Stoke over us and West Brom. Ellis Simms was someone we looked at but he picked Sunderland over us.
My assumption here is he ask, club said not available.

I could see Surge staying around, at least till January.
We are not exactly flush with strikers and they are all pretty similar.
I honestly think he needs to keep his head down and learn/work on his hold up work-if he could improve that 20% hes in with a shout...

But harsh on Taiwo-hes hardly had much time on the pitch. For sure hes not a "rounded" striker but he brings pace and a bit of strength and I suspect is a pretty good finisher from what I've seen so far.

Very interesting to see his apparent link with boro has not gone down well with their fans and they don't want him 🤣

As far as I've seen there is zero evidence that he is going out on loan.

It's simply suggested that Boro would like to loan him.

The only other info was that Cardiff wanted to loan him but he wasn't available. Some people have suggested this is because he is going to boro. However, if you read my post about Cardiff above, you would have thought that Morison, who was very candid about his targets, would have said something more about Surridge not being available as he does for the other targets he missed out on.

What are people seeing that suggested this loan is happening?

I suppose it could all change tomorrow if a Lodi quality striker suddenly becomes available late on.

On the evidence of the six games so far this season Sam is by far and away our best finisher. It would be madness to move him on. He needs to be playing more imho.
I haven't seen Sam bury any chances in the Premier League yet. Have Dennis or Awoniyi missed many yet?

The game is not only about finishing, it's about build up too. Sam's not so good there.

Well, I did write "on the evidence of the six games played so far", and that includes Grimsby. In the Prem, Sam has barely played, but I recall him missing one clear headed opportunity. Taiwo, I believe, has played in every game so far, league and cup, and scored and contributed to one goal - the one that bounced off him - while also missing several other opportunities to score. I'll add that I'm not criticizing Taiwo, just pointing out in response to your reply that using the only comparative metrics available then my original assertion stands: Sam is our best finisher. And in order to win matches then surely finishing is the most important variable?
