Like I said, it wasn't perfect.

But he did make key signings at key times for relatively minimal investment. Davies + Surridge + Cook is the best Jan transfer window we've ever had IMO, and for me our best recruitment in years was overseen by Murphy.

I mean, sources such as the Athletic credit Murphy/George Syrianos with Awoiniyi, who we then both sacked, and DT also stated Matildas bought Lingard to the club.

How much stock you place in these sources is down to personal choice, and fair enough if you don't share the view which I do that they're getting far more right than wrong these days. But to suggest "no idea" is simply ignorant of these sources. My views and others who share them are basing them on what is reported and what we hear.
All well and good Alf but then you're overlooking that "supposedly respected" sources were saying that Cooper wasn't that happy with either the amount or quality of the initial signings for the PL and then subsequently Murphy wanted Cooper sacked for it. 🤷‍♂️
I'm not prepared to tie myself in knots caring about it to be honest, because I'm not informed enough, no more than i was caring who told Cloughie to sign Lee Smelt, Ray McKinnon and David Campbell.

The signings made whilst Murphy was here in the Championship were excellent on the whole, although you mentioned Cook who he apparently didn't want here 🤷‍♂️
Nowhere near as good once we got promoted though, although I've no idea who he really wanted and who he didn't. 21 signings in that first window after promotion (and that many were needed). He must have agreed to most of them. There's only 4 or 5 anywhere near our first team though.

Fair points, although, again if you go on what the reports say, that first window involved a lot of Greek meddling.

Ultimately, the club had it's best season in 23 years when Murphs arrived and the Greeks had their most hands-off approach in all their time here. A time which had left us bottom of the Championship due to their methods. Now the Greeks appear to be more involved again we're breeching FFP, losing track of loans, and messing about with players like Vlach again.

They're not awful and have certainly signed the odd good players, but I think overall we've reverted to a more messy, disheveled, lower-tier way of operating which was apparent here in abundance before Murphy arrived.

I don't blame anybody for the signings made. It's hard enough to get it right when I do it, with no pressure and none of my money involved.

I don't praise anybody either, because it's their job, for which they are well paid.

As a humble fan, I just sit here and let them know when it goes tits up or succeeds.

Sorry Alf ...... I think we could have verbally sparred for a few more hours (y)..... but I'd been on nights all week up until yesterday morning and had barely any sleep for 30 odd hours.

One thing is certain, if we do go down it will be all on the ownership. But, we're not relegated yet .....

I've seen enough this season to know we're one of the worst sides in the league.

We'll scrape 17th place without a points deduction, IMO, and get relegated with any points taken away.

Our decision making at the back and fitness up top concerns me. Awoniyi looks well off full fitness still, Wood is out for the season, Ribeiro is a kid, and Origi is in disgraceful shape for a professional athlete.

My view as well, and I don't think we'll escape with a less than 6 points deduction so that's us done for. Lacking in both areas of the pitch, Nuno has made us more gung-ho but we are seeing different inadequacies with how we are set up but with the same results as Coops

I actually feel more positive than I did this morning. Luton losing at home to Sheffield United is a bigger deal than us losing by the odd goal in 5 to a good side.

Wonder whether Nuno has considered a low block, fast counter set up now he’s had a chance to see the squad, and its weaknesses?!

What’s strange for me is that we’ve purchased a top half squad who should be comfortably competing for European places, but we’re consistently losing to the lesser teams…

It's as simple as we're shit in defence. No issues with our forward play. Losing 6 or 7 games 3-2 says it all.

It has always been this since August and we did nothing to address it in January because the top brass didn't think it was a problem.

Definitely. Got to have that big club attitude and we should be top 10 comfortably.

You really need to have a winning attitude, something that the club and people of Nottingham have been missing to date.

We are much better under Nuno than Cooper but unfortunately, despite attacking more we can't make that extra 2% possession count.

We're still making the same stupid mistakes that will relegate us.

Obviously I’m biased, but I don’t think we’ve improved dramatically under Nuno.

We’ve just swapped grinding out games, and not winning. To playing better (whatever metric that means), and not winning.

I feel we’re further away from competing now, than we were under Steve. We knew what we were under Steve and worked hard. This feels like a typical relegation squad currently - play ok, make loads of mistakes and concede poor goals.

The two (four) games which strangely nailed for me that were going down were Blackpool and Bristol. Four shit games with our strongest XI. Been a shambles of a season too to bottom.

I would disagree because we look like we can at least score goals now so we need to work on defence.
There were times when we had no attacking threat at all so we have improved even though we aren't getting the points

Claiming we fielded our strongest 11 against Blackpool and Bristol City says everything about this post.

100%.

We desperately missed Taiwo under Cooper

Now he's back and it's not making a huge difference because we're even worse defensively. Still same individual mistakes but in every game now our midfield shape breaks down.

We do look better up front and while I won’t rake up the past again, Awoniyi was out for Steve.

Our issue for the rest of the season is that we’ll work hard to score, and the opposition can ping a cross field ball 80 yards, or a random cross in the box and they’ll score.

The weird thing is, whilst people said Cooper was done, if we’d given him a keeper that wasn’t Turner or Vlach…say, Sels for example, I think we’d have ground out a few more results.

I was talking about the ability of the team to score not just Awoniyi.
We have got enough talent to not rely on him as much as we have and I think that's been a problem for us

Finding it mentally tough at the moment. The way the basics are costing us from picking up 3 points in games is just putting me in an extremely foul mood for the entire weekend.
Brentford, Bournemouth & Newcastle were all average at best, I would in fact argue pretty poor, yet we have only taken 1 point from those 3 games. Keep trying to be optimistic but it is getting tougher each match.
I'll be at the West Ham game next Saturday and I really hope our fortunes turn around.
