Extended the FB comparison I did for Lowe to include Drager. Added his last 2 seasons in Germany (19/20 in the BL, 18/19 in BL2 where he played more games)

Cashy's crossing was crap when he was here but half the time he shot from that kind of range anyway. Does seem to have noticeably improved since going to Villa.

Anyone would think, Villa actually had guys who worked with the players, every day, to increase and enhance their abilities, perhaps using some sort of regular practice regime or schedule?

What a revolutionary concept, Forest ought to try that.

No! defend box only. It is the Hughton way.

To be fair, it's not like there was no other way to offload him. Atromitos over here wanted him, Legia Warsaw was interested, and a couple of Turkish teams.

A possible twist? According to the Polish press, Legia Warsaw will sign either Dräger, or another right back of ours, Giannis Masouras (not to be confused by our winger Giorgos Masouras). The latter is, in my view, a better player than Dräger. Lightning fast, good positionally, better technically. For some reason, our manager never gave him a chance, although he was twice rather good in preseason.

Judging by the comments i've been seeing from Oly fans regarding Dräger I think it's better off for all parties if he doesn't come here, not sure i've seen any of your fans say anything good about him (except an occasional succesful cross). The move would most likely end up being a waste of time and ultimately used as ammunition by our fans to take aim at the Greeks, which benefits nobody

Re: Mohamed Drager

Meh. We probably need another RB as Gabriel has:
a) Gone
and was
b) Unlikely to make it. Would we have given him a contract at the end of the year?

This seems to hinge on Back being promising, but still very young, and Tutu being a bit pringle-y. I guess we could have held onto Gabriel, but his price would have run down. Or take a RB who 'can do a job' and we can hopefully move on later. To be fair to the Olympiacos' lads we rarely struggle to shift them - have any ever ended up in the bomb squad?

No, there's usually a club from an obscure league somewhere in Europe inexplicably willing to pay to take them even if they haven't played for 12 months.

Who gives a toss whether it gives people ammunition mate.

At the end of the day it is a completely logical transfer. We have missed out on our other RB targets so this guy comes in as a free backup for the meantime.

In that case, Drager is nailed on for Forest.

My only concern is that it just adds fuel to the toxic atmosphere that's starting to surround our club, one of the few aspects the fans haven't completely turned on yet is the owner

Is it really worth bringing in a player that by all accounts is dogshit and not adequate for first team football, giving our fans a reason to channel some of their frustrations towards the board in the process? If we're just looking for someone to make up numbers then i'm sure we can find something that doesn't implicate the Greeks?

Either way if he comes I hope he proves the Oly fans wrong and does a decent job here

Re: Mohamed Drager

I have no real issue bringing this guy in as cover, provided he's cheap as chips.

What would annoy me is if we're linked with quality in the middle and up front but then this lad is the only signing we make. That's not a good look.

Re: Mohamed Drager

We started the season with a RB we evidently don't rate, so if Drager was someone we legitimately wanted, he'd have been here 6 weeks ago.

Hopefully he can get up to speed and do a job, especially if JOT is going to be out for a little while longer. Just hope we don't give him a stupid contraxt in a panic like we did (eventually) with Cafu.

The long contract allows amortisation of the fee over the contract period. It also (technically) drives the value of the player up as he’s got a longer contract.
But length of contract is irrelevant when the player will be sold at a profit to a club with close affiliations to EM

I know but I'd be pretty annoyed if we paid a fee for Cafu. Plus your calculation ignores wages.

Fingers crossed on selling him for a profit, though.
