He only played 12 games last season anyway according to Soccerbase. Ideal grounding for the 40 odd games Champ games we might need him to play

The Greeks really can't afford for this one to go wrong.
You can’t make it up you really can’t. They still owe us big time for all the shite they’ve sent us and taking Silva for a few quid.

My concern is that doesn't seem to fit with what was supposed to be our new recruitment model and harks back to what exactly has failed us before.

why doesn't it? Hes 25, that fits right in.

I mean, sure, it could be another case of Olympiacos foisting their unwanted players onto us, but tbh, we've not exactly done THAT badly from them, of the 5 players we've had from them, we sold Tachtsidis for a profit, they took Bouchalkis back from us, Guerro and Ansarifard were both sold and Cafu is still with us, not taking wages into account, we've probably made a minor profit off the players we've had off them.

They might as well send us a striker too, save us a few quid on Maja, it usually works out fine

Not really ‘digging’ though is it mate .

But on a serious note, if we would have signed him straight from Freiburg people would be wetting their knickers about unearthing a gem from the German leagues. For all we know he could have been on Forest radar all along with Syrianos previous history in Germany, but he may have been target 3 or 4 on the list.

Won’t judge till I have seen him play, essentially a free. No risk it no biscuit.

My thoughts exactly...

But wages do count sadly. If this lad comes here on 10k/wk that 1.5m over 3 years.

He needs to be good.

He is a good athlete, and has a good cross in him, but that's about it. Poor defensively and tactically, clueless in overlaps, does not dribble. He was in the bomb squad. Low wages of course, and good character. Certainly not the solution to your right back problem. Good news for Fin Back.

According to the Greek press it's more likely a loan.

Be careful what you wish for: our bomb squad consisted of two players, Dräger and a striker (Franco Soldano).

Re: Mohamed Drager

If he's decent then fine, but I'd hoped we were past being a home for Olympiakos's unwanted.

Can anyone blame anyone who is not excited by this piece of news?

Balance is needed and we have made money off freebies from Olypiakos so we can’t say we have been done in financially however every player that has come in has either not been a good enough starter or squad player. On the pitch the ones who play have hurt us.

Re: Mohamed Drager

That would make a lot more sense.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

We already have Tutu, Back and Richardson who can play right back, dare I say it Jenkinson too.

Surprised this isn't a permanent with an eye on Back/Richardson loans over the next two years. Doesn't matter if he's "not great" - if he's cheap and can do a rotation job.

If we manage to sell a young academy player in the process too, it's ticking all those "get fans on-side" boxes!

It really is a move that could kill a ton of good will just rebuilt by employing Murphy, for very little reward. Like fingering a fat bird at the church you're just about to get married to Natalie Portman in 5 min before the ceremony.

To be fair, it's not like there was no other way to offload him. Atromitos over here wanted him, Legia Warsaw was interested, and a couple of Turkish teams.

I’m not unhappy with Tutu & Back.
Priority for me is not another right back.
Just inflating an already bloated squad.
Quality - not quantity - please.
