Has there been any rumours that he'll play on Saturday? A Greek journalist claims that according to sources in England not only he is not coming to Olympiacos but he will be a starter on Saturday.

I hope he gets it. Just to see where he is. Different getting up , trying to prove a point for the odd cup game but lets see.

Get the feeling Pantilimon is someone Karanka fought for at times.

Well according to the post a goalkeeper wasn't a target for Karanka but the board disagreed.

The Spanish are renowned for their concept of „Mañana“ („Tomorrow“) which is sort of shorthand for „I‘ll get round to it“.

I think the Greeks have something similar.

Unlike the Germans of course, for whom punctuality is practically a religion.

Some in the Greek press think that Lodygin's signing might make Steele reconsider his reluctance to come to Olympiacos, given that he'll be no 3 now. Which would be convenient given that Jakupovic, who was the main target, asked too much money for the role we want him for (a definite no 2 who will not complain that he's not playing at all).

Do you think there is any chance there could be more wires crossed and Lodygin is for you considering his heritage? Especially if Jakupovic is proving too expensive?

The board shouldn't run shit though, it's a f***ing slippery slope

No, certainly not. First of all, I'm sure Jakupovic is way way cheaper than Lodygin. And Lodygin is not a clear no 2, while we're looking for a clear no 2. He left Zenit, because he felt the role of no 1 was unjustly taken away from him and he'll come back to Greece on a smaller contract to be no 2? No way.

Accomplished 1st half, with one very good save, but my god did he go to shit in the 2nd half. Don't think I've ever seen someone's performance level drop so drastically after 1 mistake. Could tell he was shitting himself every time the ball came near him after that. Can easily see why Pants is No 1.

Looked great first half. Some top distribution with the quick throws and a cracking save. A save I might add, that I don't think Pants would have got to.

1st goal he lost all bearings after his crap kick. I blame Wague for not knowing his keeper's strongest foot and Steele for not being good enough on his weaker foot. Confidence shot after that.

He's going to turn 35 at the start of next season. Pants is 32. I really think we need better than both if we are serious about promotion.

Maybe it's just me but I kind of feel bad for him despite his howler. He'd had a very good first half with an incredible reaction save to keep them out. Bar his terrible positioning he could've had a decent game to give him a bit of confidence to push on. But heads went down after that went in and it was all uphill from there.

As it is we're likely to see Pants back as first choice next game.

Perhaps it throws into sharp focus that the material MON has to work with is not as good as we like to think. Not just the 'keepers, the whole team does little to justify our faith in them.

People have clamoured in the past for Steele to be given a go.
Now he is to be excommunicated because, when given the chance, he made a mistake.
Grabban is excused for wasting brilliant chances as he is "rusty".
Steele is vilified - don't you think he might have been a bit "rusty", having not played a game for 12 months?
And what will it do to his confidence if he dropped for last night's performance (which included a 2 brilliant saves in the first half - both now forgotten).
I am not saying he is a great keeper, or a natural first choice.
I am just trying tointroduce a bit of balance into the debate.

He's another one of those keepers we seem to get, where he looks good most of the time but is prone to a howler.

Dont get the Grabban paralell, he's held our season together Captain.

Keepers come under more scrutiny for mistakes anyway, its the nature of the job. Steele is considered No.2 at the club, he needs to come in & make a statement, not sure he did enough to suggest we're not saddled with two very average keepers.

His ground kicking struggled to make half way too.

Over the course of the season, they've been equally bad. But Pantillimon has been afforded more game time.

Definitely a position that needs improvement for me.
