Another keeper incoming? which suggests they want to loan Smith out

#nffc are in talks to sign Luke Steele. Would be as back-up to Costel Pantilimon. Deal not done yet. But club keen to make sure they have quality cover, in a position where they are already well stocked...

Pants, Smith, Kapino, Evtimov and now this chap?

Well stocked for keepers we would be though.

Have said it before it's no use Smith sitting on our bench, he needs game time - so if this means he can go out on loan somewhere then it'll benefit us long term.

It obviously suggests Kapino is nearly gone though, I wouldn't have had a problem with him being backup.

Yeah I reckon Kapino wouldn't fancy being a no.2. He's gone from being a really promising young gk to sitting on the bench in the Championship. I imagine he'd want to be no.1 somewhere.

Smith will hopefully get a loan deal out. Notts Co? Not sure if they got rid of Collin to back Fitzsimons or if they need a 'keeper.

Luke Steele is a solid enough no.2. Was good for Barnsley.

He'd be your second Panathinaikos goalkeeper under Marinakis.

Unacceptable.

I don't think we will see any players going to County anytime soon.

I'm sure a League One side would like Smith.

Yes, Smith needs to be playing so he can learn his trade. He isn't going to develop sat on our bench.

As long as he irons his shirt. I like a well turned out keeper.

At Panathinaikos, Steele was a very weird keeper. At times great, at times terrible, rarely in between. At times he jumped like a cheetah, at times we were making fun of him and said that his real name was Still. He was particularly poor at defending low shots at his left corner, I don't know why. To be fair he much improved towards the end of his Panathinaikos career.

Was fantastic at Barnsley , A proven Championship keeper as back up ,you can see AK's thinking here.

Can't see Vrentzos allowing him to go there after Hardy's antics, and for the fact that we'll probably want at least some contribution towards his wages.
Besides, Hardy has clearly implied that they now deal with clubs at a higher level than us.

Mansfield on the other hand would be a better destination.

Why would we send Smith to L2?? He's good enough for this league if we're sending him anywhere it has to be top L1 or championship.

I asked my Barnsley supporting brother what he thought of Luke Steel. This was his assessment.

The dog would probably make a better job of it than Steve Cotterill.

My brizzle supporting mates are slightly bemused they let him go. Fielding is out and they don’t have a first choice keeper in the squad.

I don't believe Steele any better than Smith, but I can kinda see sense in this.
Having Smith sat on bench with his thumb up is arse playing odd cup game & U23's
won't be any good for his development.

I’ve always thought Steele was a decent keeper. More than happy to have him as number 2.

Hopefully Smith can go out on loan and play 40+ games somewhere
