I don’t even know why he dropped Pantilimon, it’s not like he’s in bad form is it. He must have bombed everybody in the squad out at least once by now.

Given the inconsistency of results...particularly our inability to string consecutive results together - it's not like any player can make a case for being undroppable.

True but why drop a goalkeeper that isn’t out of form. It’s not like it’s a position where it’s going to change the approach .He played a big part in us somehow beating Swansea just last Saturday.

I don't think MON really has much of a plan at this point to be honest

He's been consistent, but he's never been in form.

Current match form doesn’t seem to be the main criteria for his selections. Maybe it’s based on what happens in training?

I think Steele should be a bolt-on first name on the team sheet.
He made 2 excellent saves in the first half v Wednesday, was at fault for their first goal, but could do nothing about the 2nd or the 3rd - he even managed to get a hand to that 3rd goal, which was down to his good reflexes.
If he is dropped back to the bench it would, imho, be a really bad example of man-management.
MON, "Sorry Luke, but after you have just sat and warmed the bench all season I gave you a chance to prove yourself. You only get one chance and you screwed up, big time. No other professional goalkeeper has ever screwed up so badly or even made a howler of a mistake. You career is over son, no=w go and sit on the naughty step with Joao - he f**ked up as well and I don't give anyone a second chance".
Luke: "OK boss, you know best I'll get my CV as a self employed plumber dusted off. Our terrible points return from the away games you have been the manager for is all down to me. You gave me a fair crack of the whip - a less enlightened manager would have substituted me straight after my capitol offence of making a blob of that first goal. I thank you for your honesty Martin. Don't feel bad - the hoofball, the crap away form and the failure to build on what AK had achieved is all down to me. It's nothing to do with you and your decision to play percentage football and to leave out your best creative players."

Poor concentration - arguably the result of so little football - was to blame for the first goal in my opinion.

I'd add that to drop him back to the bench for the Blackburn game could seriously dent the lad's confidence, unless Pantillimon's absence was due to a slight injury of some sort that he will have recovered from by tomorrow?

Much as Steele was hapless in the first goal, it looked like the CB did him no favours.

Still cant get my head round what Steele was doing between the time he kicked the ball to the time it went in? He must have had 5 seconds to reposition himself, yet he was nowhere near the middle of the goal when it went in.

Colback missed his header, Yates missed his header, but Steeles gonna have to wear that one. Looked a bit amateur to be honest. His second half performance will probably get him dropped.

Well, the subs are still on the team sheet...

He certainly didn't do himself any favours with the howler, or with the rest of his second half performance.

According to the Greek press, he may be the next player you will be offloading to us. Yeah, it worked so well with Dias...

Several years ago, not last year. He was weird in Greece: he could be spectacular in one match and do one blunder after the other in the next.
