How the BBC’s sport coverage lost its way

BBC has a perception problem.
News and Current affairs is seen as very much Tory driven and on the right and always has been and always will be.
Entertainment, Arts, Music very much perceived as woke lefty which it is and always has been and always will be.

I think that’s historically true of media in general in this country, not just the BBC.

News skews right and the arts skews left.

If Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol today it would be labelled ‘woke’ by the likes of the Daily Mail, etc

I disagree completely with that and I know that anecdotally as I enjoyed a lot more entertainment on the Beeb 10-15 years ago than I do know. Also my parents are the same as well. Non of my friends who all have different political leanings ever say to me "Have you seen x on the BBC?". Point is, is that its not a perception problem its a quality problem. People who consider themselves right of centre socially also dont consider the news and affaris programs to be very right of centre at all. At best you can call it centre but its more centre left. Its very "Starmery" the Beeb.

I think you need to look at who runs the BBC from the top positions from the Director General down.
All Tories and some of them Ex Tory MP's.
Then also look at all the News Presenters 90% Tories.
They are not going to jeopardise their +£300,000 a year jobs and really dont want to pay too much tax

Ill give you an example:
The producer of Question Time - Alison Fuller Pedley
During the referendum she started sharing and liking posts from the EDL, Britain First and was a member of British Patriot Front
These are all extreme nationalists and fascists on the right.

Not only that she was embroiled in putting plants in the audience to favour Brexit questions and Tory MP's.
This is why Nigel Farage was on something like over 100 times more than any other panellist up to the referendum, during and after.
A few times they used relatives of the production teams in the audience to help the Tory Panellists.

***Edit I did that all from memory so might not be 100% accurate but this is an article that covers some of it..

That's because people who consider themselves 'right of centre' are often people who are actually closer to the far right than they are the centre ground but refuse to accept that reality because it's socially awkward to do so.

Most qualitative data/research shows BBC news (and most news channels in general) edge slightly right of centre. That you don't think it's right wing enough says more about your views than any perceived BBC bias.

I'd have more respect for the 'Defund the BBC' crowd if they just acknowledged their own political position rather than constantly try to claim they are the centre ground and a majority and it's others that need to adapt to them.

Depends what you consider far right is? For example a majority wants immigration lowered but the majority don’t want immigration stopped all together. To me the extremist point of view is open borders or a closed border. So depends what you consider as far right. I also consider they/them pronouns as far left extremism. I don’t consider using the opposite sex’s pronouns for people with gender dysmorphia but they/them makes no scientific sense what so ever. The beeb goes along with that which is far left extremism. I’d say my opinion there is centre and what the majority think.

You do tick all the boxes for far right, tbf.

However, I'm also intrigued to know if you're a centrist, what do far right people think in your opinion?

Majority of people want lower immigration, majority voted for Brexit. The majority thinks to compel people to use they them pronouns as silly, also to let biological men play woman’s sport is unfair and also letting blokes self id just because they state it and gain access to woman’s spaces. That is not far right at all.

It's all about mid-table...
Ya can get far too deep into politics, it does effect us all, and it will destroy you.

But I'll always stick with that you vote to what your own personal neighbourhood is like.

I'm in leafy Surrey now and there's not a Labour voter within a country mile, I was in Hyson Green last week it was utterly awash with um.

I think what people need to understand is that Britain, specifically the English, are very much right wing.
It has been that way for decades even longer but you also have to tailor in the culture of Britain it is very much subservient to a ruling class. Bow down to your masters. This is also compounded by the fact that most of our media is owned by right wing news Barons. Non who live in this country, most are not from this country and non who pay tax to this country

Rupert Murdoch - Australian
The Barclay Brothers - Who live on an Island like a James Bond Villain
Jonathan Harmsworth, 4th Viscount Rothermere - Was able to get away with not paying over £3bn in tax - Helped by us leaving the EU when the new EU directive came in that would have made him pay.
Evgeny Lebedev - Put in the house of Lords by Boris for helping getting Brexit done. His father is an ex KGB member.
These people have implanted a right wing mentality into Britain with blanket news and media coverage.

Whilst we do accept some numerous deviation of many threads, this one has descended a little too darkly, so I’ve had to tidy it up.

Hopefully, those involved will understand why.

If not, ping me a message and I’ll hook you up with a couple of visits to some interesting places where you can maybe learn that some subjects just aren’t funny?

Not you.

Old Adolf should have stuck to painting, he’d have been OK with that.
