How the BBC’s sport coverage lost its way

I'm not sure how it works but you don't see lineker being hired out/inviting himself on to multiple other programmes he just sticks to the football (and politics)
I think they probably tot-up all the SPOTY, World Cup, Euros, etc with his MOTD and the various podcasts he does for 5live/bbcsounds as a totality.

I'm not trying defend him here, either. But it's the reason you get Sue Perkins taking a road to outer Mongolia or whatever.

BBC blasted for 'wilfully blind' to antisemitism after Gary Linker's latest anti-Israel row

Critics slammed Linker, 63, who later took down the tweet which suggested Israel be banned “until it ends its grave violations of international law”.

I'm sure if an international cup is hosted there anytime soon he'll be first on the plane out there though. What a nonce.

Don't see how it's antisemitic to call for a country carrying out mass murder to be banned from sporting competitions. Precedent set with Russia surely?

It's quite amusing when you consider that Putin and Russia are clearly backing Hamas.

Controlled on the knee and volleyed from 25 yards… should have won it! We’re so out of favour with the media types right now.
I just think the producers said pick 6 and whoever chose them did just that without having the brains to say “we need 7”.

Glaring omission but decent on the Bournemouth game, agreed the Billings foul was nasty and a red card, and singled out Murillo for praise.

MOTD agreed Forest should have had a penalty for the foul on Awoniyi - even Alan Shearer said so! They also spotted the foul on Dominguez which stopped him closing down Bruno for their winner, though they joked about it rather than condemning it.

Good to see MOTD2 showing 'goals from yesterday's games' and including the incident again. And now Clattenberg has called it out too. Won't get us any points back though...

MOTD on our side to no avail yet again...

Omobamidele wins the ball so Brighton should never have had the free kick in the first place.

And Moder's foul on Williams has to be a red card.

Neco Williams is lucky that he can still walk and there is no excuse for not punishing such a dangerous career threatening tackle now that Var can be checked.
Expect to see more and more 2 footed challenges and more injuries.
Maybe they will clamp down on it when a livarpool player is injured?

MOTD2 also commented on the set piece coach, who Shay Given thinks should have moved the defensive line further forward so the keeper has more space to claim the ball. Though there was an aside comment to the effect that we've had some problems in the keeping department.

Just watched the Liverpool v City highlights.

Micah Richards and Owen Hargreaves both said that the high boot shouldn’t be a penalty, even though it should be.

The reason being that a game of this magnitude shouldn’t be decided on this, but in lesser games, with lower teams it would’ve been a penalty.

Bias strikes again.

That's as daft as Dermot Gallagher.
