Those are the types of games you want him running at defenders. But he just looked lost. Really, really poor performance in amongst a poor overall team performance.

Maybe it's an expectation thing in that some expect too much while others (me) too little. I like him - talented as f*** but obviously needs to impact matches with that. I think it'll come.

I rate him. He doesn’t have pace anymore but he is great technically. A bit more confidence and he could be key player. He’s only 23 and cost sod all. Him, Elanga and MGW could be a lovely suite of talent

He was alright today, I think it benefited him when MGW came on. Basically without him you had the back four, the midfield 3 with Danilo EVER SO SLIGHTLY advanced then A HUGE BLOODY GAP and finally you arrive at our only two attacking options in CHO and Wood.

Not even counting Nico, he had such a nothing performance it was incredible. Ran a lot tho, can’t fault the effort, he’s just not a winger lol.

I also thought the game ticked a lot better with Danilo and Mangala in the middle once MGW came on, Yates had a stinker but he’s allowed some has he’s been pretty good as of late.

Overall, stick with MGW for god sakes. Some of the balls in were good, some of his play were good and deserved a goal.

not so sure it would if he always plays with fear at the back of his mind. Last season, in his interview during his leverkusen loan, he mentioned that he often felt phantom pains in other parts of his leg after his achilles injury. It seemed more of a mental issue, steven reid should be dealing with him.

Phantom pains are a mental issue but are meant to be horrendous and aren’t resolved by having a chat.

A lot of amputees are in constant pain because the brain thinks the muscle is tensing constantly, just ask Omar Richards

First attack of the game he had the full back backing up into his own box and checked back. Sums it up for me.

Yesterday was the perfect opportunity to run at his man every time and he still looks scared of getting tackled. I hope Nuno tells him if he keeps checking back every time he won’t play. I’d actually play him on the right for a bit and tell him to beat his man and cross it, all day long.

He’s great on the ball and if he can find the jinking ability again he’ll be superb. Reyna looked very similar when he came on but had a bit more of a free role.

Hopefully he can make a quick recovery from that and that will give him confidence that he can take knocks like that and be OK, so that he recovers his early promise.
