I see we are being linked with Chelsea's erstehile wonder kid at >£10m.
Not sure about whether he adds anything to us.
Obviously SC knows him from England Junior days.
Bugger... I've had to come here for anothe hit on the crack pipe

I wouldn't be against it at that kind of price if Cooper wants him. He had bags of potential at a young age, and worked with Cooper at England.

I'd have concerns over his wages, fitness and attitude though. Didn't he become a real Billy Big Bollocks at Chelsea?

I just read his wiki page to see if there are clues about his fall from grace, so to speak. It seems like his loan to Leverkusen (last year) and the season before at Chelsea are when he started to fade into the background. The example of Dele Alli is there for everyone, including Mr. Hudson-Odoi, to see. If he is interested in spending his next 10-12 years making an obscene wage to play a game, then he would be a great addition for the price. If he has other "priorities" then he is an idiot and we should steer well clear. I am sure the scouting network and/or Cooper are aware if there are any "rumours" about his behaviour etc about. Let's hope he just needs a nudge in the right direction. HE certainly looked a can't miss prospect a few years ago.

unbelievably he's only 6 months older than Brennan, those two could be our Prem class wingers until they're Zaha's age!

edit: sounds like he lost a lot of his pace with the achillies tear in 2021. got to be one of the worst possible injuries for a young professional athlete 😕

I have been whispering his name from the minute we were promoted, he was arguably the best player in that Cooper U17 side.

For me his signing comes with it's downsides but the ceiling and versatility in where he can play is well worth the risk for me.

As others have mentioned he is a similar age to Johnson, Danilo, MGW - and probably has more natural talent than all of them.

Chelsea's mismanagement of his talent will be somebody elses gain I think.

It's definitely a risk. Interesting that he's only played about 200 minutes more at pl level than bj, and has half his goals from last year over six seasons.

Pretty sure he struggles with injury, so he will fit right in.

On a serious note, since his Achilles injury he has not been the same player, seems to have lost a yard of place & agility. I would still rather have him as an option than Dennis though.

His name and Gallagher of Chelsea were my immediate thoughts on who we would go for when we survived. Ambitious, maybe overly ambitious in Gallaghers case, but if Coops is behind it i've no problem with it.

Gallagher would be a fantastic signing. Another one of Cooper's England U17 World Cup winning team too.

I totally forgot about the achilles injury.

Neil Webb was never the same player again when he ruptured his achilles shorting after signing for Man United from Forest.

John Barnes also had to adapt his game, moving from the wing to central midfield as he'd lost his explosiveness. Then again, he was 29.

Perhaps a good thing for Hudson-Odoi is that his injury occurred very early in his career. He has recently said that his achilles feels as good as before, and a talent like him is worth taking a chance on in my opinion. If the asking price is £10m, that would be a great deal. Less than 3 years ago, Bayern Munich had a loan offer with an option to buy for £70m rejected by Chelsea.

I just watched quite a lengthy highlight video on him from Leverkusen and there is definitely a player in there. We've been looking for a left winger and I think he'd link up with the other attackers nicely. £10m is a decent number. The reported 120k a week works out to about £5m a season.

I think he'd be an improvement on Lingard but also, we don't have a left winger right now.
Knows Steve well, direct runner, skillful.

I'd be good with this.

i'm sure there's a player in there, buried in the lifestyle of the young and rich who has lost their way, this isn't like anthony elanga who has too many players at united blocking his way and he's available for the same price and just a current salary of 5k.

Coops will defo be able to get a tune out of CHO… from what I remember, he had explosive pace, especially over the first 5 yards and quick feet. Hope his Achilles is up to the job (don’t worry ladies and gents, our medical team are top notch😆). Must be sooo exciting for Coops with the prospect of getting a few of the under 17 band back together.

Owen Hargreaves also released an extensive gym/training video of himself to show round clubs to demonstrate how fit he is…I think it’s fair to say we can take anything CHO has to say himself with a pinch of salt.

I’m really split on this as the points you were making about the impact of that type of injury has quite a list of evidence to say you aren’t going to be the same player. That said 10m for that level of talent could be a risk worth taking at the right wage
