Wages aside, £5m combined for the pair is laughably good business, irrespective of the asterisk next to Hudson-Odoi's name when we signed him. Hopefully upper management have taken note that value for money is a good thing.

Can't argue with that. Aina was a great pickup on a free and £3m for CHO is proving to be an absolute steal. Hopefully we can pick up a few more bargains like that this summer.
Aina is a £15 mill defender for me. We've signed some great players, we've also signed too many players but hopefully thats all part of some sort of weird Forest learning process..

I love this guy but feel like he needs someone telling him constantly to be brave. Think I recall him saying that SC used to tell him to "never be boring". I feel that this has crept into his game a bit.

The weird thing is that he has occasionally crossed with his left, so he can do it. I'd like to see him on the right too. I like him, I think he has a lot to offer.

Man City put one man on him, and a second man blocking the inside path, because 99% of the time he gets down his wing to the edge of the 18 yard box, stops in his tracks and tries to cut inside to shoot.
Forced down the outside, he is effectively neutralised.

So it would make sense for Forest to encourage the left-back to always make runs down his side, distracting the opposition and also giving him the option to slip his teammate in down the byline.
Instead, he's usually isolated and asked to create a moment of magic on his own.
I'm not sure why we seem to insist on Williams making runs down the right side, when a) he's not very good at crossing the ball and b) we have no left-footed winger to cut in and exploit his runs.
I realise Aina isn't a natural left-back (or wing-back), so perhaps Toffolo would be a better option, especially considering his crossing ability. If I were in charge I'd build the entire game plan around giving Hudson-Odoi and Gibbs-White the best opportunities.

That's where you need the left footed left back bombing down the outside. If the defenders over commit to CHO coming inside it is an easy layoff to overlapping left back to whip in a cross. If the defender doesn't over commit to CHO cutting inside then that in itself gives CHO more room to play in. Unfortunately because Aina is predominantly right footed his natural instinct is not to go down the outside but to hang back himself, pretty uch leacving CHO no where to go or we just end up passing the ball back out from a dangerous position.
