Callum James Hudson-Odoi

Bukayo Saka is another player who everyone knows is going to come inside and shoot in one swift body movement.

Although it looks predictable, it's not always that easy to stop if it's a player whose hips don't lie (Shakira, Shakira), a player who simply waits, draws you in and teases you to make a challenge to foul them, then just jinks in an instant with a quick-fire shot.

Hudson-Odoi was top drawer at doing that in his Chelsea days and looked a huge talent. It was mainly the injuries he needed to get over and to gain some confidence in his body. You can see why Chelsea at the time turned down bids in excess of £30m for him. One other bid was a loan with an option to buy at £70m, which Chelsea turned down too.

What an absolute bargain and he looks to be enjoying his football again.

CHO and Elanga know what it's like being at the big teams (not all that great) and neither sparkled while at those teams to suggest super strong interest from that level of team again so there is a good chance we will keep both for a long time which I am delighted about.

We should keep looking for players in similar circumstances this summer

Agree with this, think the recruitment focus has to be leadership and EPL experience (assuming we stay up.)

Looking at cast-offs from the big 6 - assuming on reasonable £££ - would work

Yeah plus the big 6 seem willing to take small fees and include a huge sell-on to Cover themselves against future success. Rumour was 40+% for CHO for example.

It’s high, but I’ll take that all day, as it means the small chance we took paid off if we’re handing over large sums on future sales.

Think I heard yesterday was his seventh premier league start in a row, which is a record for him. Kid's only just getting started - I hope he recovers in time for his big moment next weekend.
I think he is probably more ‘raw’ then we all assume, likely caused by the fact he’s seemingly been around forever.

Nuno was complimentary whilst being clear after the game yesterday that CHO still has a lot to work on. There is obviously a stack of talent in there that needs to be developed. Perhaps some individual behavioural things too.

It's all about working CHO into that 1v1 - do that and it's probably 50-50 whether he gets a shot off. Do it three or four times in a game and the chances are he gets a goal.
Exactly. It's about trying to get him isolated in the 1v1's. There's a lot of work goes into working on developing those situations as a team.

It becomes a pattern of play where we move the ball to one side of the pitch and either switch it quickly or move the move the ball quickly back across. One of the intricacies is moving it slowly out to the opposite side first to allow it to pull the opposition across then hitting the play switch.

I find it interesting that we've become much more reliant on getting CHO into those situations over looking to use Elanga's pace on the break. Seems a shift between the two managers, not that Cooper had as much time with CHO due to the injury...

Elanga is an interesting one - his numbers have dropped but he's still making things happen while still occasionally looking wasteful when doing so - he played a beautiful cross in for wood last week who failed to connect, yesterday he layed one off to Morgan when everyone, including Morgan it seems thought he was going to shoot.

It's nice having genuine threat from both sides now after being so reliant on BJ down the right. Just need some depth there now...

Ironically the red card tackle vs Bournemouth has given him the confidence that he isn't going to get injured easily and he has started to play with more belief and less fear.

I think a few hoped this would be the case. Ive always been of the opinion it would come for CHO - there's just too much quality there for it not to providing he stayed fit. And I expect more too...

Still only 23, so an injury free couple of years and who knows what the ceiling is.

He just needs an overlapping full back in support - get that right next season and a huge problem solved, since teams are already starting to double up.
He can be devastating when cutting inside on to his right.

I do wish he’d have the confidence to go on his left and whip a cross in every now and again. Even if it doesn’t come off it keeps the defender wondering what he’s going to do. That in itself would offer up more space for him to cut inside.

I've got a feeling that Elanga is playing through some sort of pain barrier. He hasn't looked right since his injury but I think we're still wheeling him out to occupy and keep the opposition honest and for the odd occasion he can still get in behind. As you say, it's quite noticeable how sparingly we use him to spearhead the attack

He's been great and is really starting to show his potential.

If he can stay fit and really get full confidence back in his body I hope he is with us for a good few years because he can be an integral part of moving us forwards and upwards because there is a class player there.

£3m going on £5m is an absolute bargin.

I really hope he stays with us.

As GP said that's where we the fullback comes in and another tick in the box for returning to the back 3 we used against City. If we can work on that system and recruit well for it during the summer I could genuinely see us kicking on a bit next season.

He's had something broken in his hand to contend with as well as the injury - he'll be back in time and I still like his positive approach to play...

He could be a top six player when he finds the consistency in putting together all of his attributes - he's still a baby in footballing terms.

cho's a tad predictable with his movement but if he can keep scoring, who am i to say otherwise ?
It's one of those things that you have to bite the bullet on because it works. A different scenario but It would have been with Schmeichel, what he did was unorthodox but how can you tell him to do something differently when it's working. You can only really step in when it stops working.

As said earlier it's not about whether you can predict it, it's whether you can stop it without it leading to issues elsewhere.
Plus, most run-of-the-mill defenders have a bit of a short circuit in their brain when they have to start thinking 'okay, show him onto his left' instead of playing based on instinct.

It's probably one of the most effective moves in football, and he's as good as anyone at doing it.

Like you said, a top quality left wing-back should be our #1 priority in the summer. Imagine the devastation if he had more help down that side.
