He’s playing well. There was a long spell when he wasn’t playing this well. Good for him and for us.
Solid again, which is great because it means we don't have to rush Cook back. Figs place to lose now, and he's done his case no harm since stepping up.
Rumour is that he cracked a smile when Colback scored. I don't believe it though.
Interesting isn't it that another one the "fans" loved to hate is showing hes actually a decent player.
So much for many of these lads is about being supported by the manager, believed in and empowered to actually play the game (and the ball) as they see it. I think that's what we are seeing with Figs. That and the fact that the "counter attack" formations we played for years was an abomination if you are a proper defender. It got to the point under Hughton (and Lamouchi for that matter) that our game plan was to wear teams out letting them batter us around our 18 years box in the hope we would get 30 clear yards of grass to run into at the other end. It was f'ing stupid and I never want to see it again...
Fans didn't love to hate Figs but realised that he'd become a liability. But Super Cooper has worked a way out to cover his flaws, and more importantly Figs has evidently worked on his game whilst he's been out the side, much as Yates has done. He's come back a better player and has looked fantastic.
He does have a habit if slipping over every time he has to turn too sharply. But even so I think he's been the most solid of the centre halves since he got back in the team.
I'm guessing Toby won't be staying for next season?
Think he's gone, pal. The occasional error that you'd expect from a 2nd tier defender but a good servant and one of our more successful signings of 'that' period.I'm guessing Toby won't be staying for next season?

You can't begrudge anyone wanting to go back home. Especially if he has family there. The consensus opinion of those ITK, is he wants to move back to Portugal. The fact he's out of contract and no negotiations have taken place seem to support this.
Think there's a good chance he'll be heading to Vitória SC in Portugal, they have Tiago Silva and Semedo, also tried to sign Ribeiro
Bit of an ex-forest Portugese reunion
Decent enough 2nd tier CB but not for a team chasing promotion and certainly not in the PL.
Throw in the factor that his family are back home and the exit makes sense for all parties. Always given his all to be fair to him so I wish him well.
