A player that apparently wanted to leave in the summer because he was homesick and wanted to go back to Portugal, but agreed to stay until the club found a replacement.

A player who was apparently set to leave in January but for a Forest cock up on the paperwork.

A player who has had little game time this season and who has had to bide his time.

A player who was called on in an emergency and who has given his absolute all to the cause, being an absolute rock at the heart of the defence.

A player who, no matter what happens from here on in, when he finally leaves, should be accorded the utmost respect and affection from the fanbase for not only being a top professional but also fully committed to the cause (even when he may not have been at his best).

Absolutely this.

Well said. His attitude is spot on.

Would be nice to get a song for him. Been impressed with the fans efforts to get some songs for players over last few weeks

He arrived with Rolls Royce performances and is leaving in the same vein. I love the f***er, always gives 100% but is a quality defender. Been hung out to dry on many occasion when we were collectively shit.

I’ll miss him when he’s gone. Would love to see him celebrating promotion

I agree mate

I think he has always been overcritised here

Thing is.

Toby is probably the worst of our first team centre backs in terms of talent.

Mbe Soh would clearly be ahead of him if he wasn't young and had injury issues, and Panzo has clearly been brought in for next season.

And our first three is definitely Worrall, Cook and McKenna when they're all fit.

But he does his best. He sticks to the simple things, defending is about keeping it simple. Heading and kicking it, anything else is a bonus.

And largely speaking, when he is around a solid set up, he does all of this well enough. He tries hard, he doesn't seem to be trouble, he makes the most of what he has, and he does his best (worth saying again).

Given that he's tried to get a new club in the last two windows and this hasn't happened, and he's still giving it all for us, shows what a committed pro he is.

And when he invariably does leave in the summer, whatever happens between now and then, it should be with his head held high. The club has moved on a long way whilst he has been here.

He’s lucky worall was there to save his arse when he tried to clear a ball and it went STRAIGHT UP.

Upped his game second half, didn’t let Hogan pass him this time.

If that's the only mistake he made (I think it is) then I'll take that

He’s a better player than just a kick it and head it. He’s slotted back into this improved side and is showing he’s pretty f***ing handy. He does more bailing out than getting bailed out.

Cook was great but in his absence, with Figgy, we have become stronger.

I think he's been very solid since he's come back into the side. I never bought into this argument that he's a liability, he gets far more right than he gets wrong. He's not on Cook's level and as soon as Steve is fit he should come back in but Figs has done a good job and deserves credit.

Yeah but you are forgetting the 6 or 7 quality interventions he made when others were nowhere to be seen. And that the problem for Figs. Critics corner only sees the bad bits.
I said to my son today after several quality interventions where he not only won headers but pointed them in the direction of red shirts that no-one would notice.
I think Joe makes more “errors” than Figs, if you consider errors to be 1 on 1 battles where he comes off second best. As all defenders do, of all quality levels

They are his main strengths though. He's not the best passer of a ball, certainly not on the level of the others, but the system means he doesn't need to be. When a defender has the ball they have plenty of options so he can play a safer pass to the keeper or one of the others.

You can see that cooper has confidence in Figs. Knowing Figs was covering allowed Worrall to push up and virtually man-mark Bacuna

The distance Worrall pushed up yesterday was incredible, the amount of times he was sat in the right midfield area just shows the confidence flowing through the side and also Worrals confidence to leave Figgy on his own.

Another thing I noticed is how often the CB's try and play through the midfield line into the forwards to complete so our forwards are immediately at their back line, which gets the likes of Davis able to run at them time after time. You can see it's something Cooper has got them doing and it's so full of intent and purpose to get wave after wave of attacks going.

Lots of love out there for Toby, which is great to see. Another positive sub plot in what could be a special special season. Like my kid’s trampoline, we’ve had our money’s worth from Figs who has comfortably been the best value for money we’ve had of the Portuguese imports. A committed servant who deserved his “moment”. Another strong case of Cooper playing a player to his strengths…just like Yates

If we were in the championship again next year, I'd offer him another contract for sure.

If he signed an extension for us then we wouldn't lose him on a free.

When he arrived I thought he was a decent footballer as opposed to just a 'stopper' CB.

Since coming in for Cook, he seems to have upped his game and is again showing quality play.

He can hold his head high having let no one down.

I remember when we signed Figueiredo and he was a huge upgrade at the time under Karanka, thought he was one of the best defenders we’d signed for a long time. He had a tough season last year which I think is where a lot of the criticism came from, but now playing under Cooper he’s got his confidence back like a lot of players this season and is showing that kind of form once again.

The last survivor of the Portuguese revolution, long live Figs

Absolutely. I’ve criticised his performances at times, but nobody can knock his attitude.

Mistakes or poor games I can accept - no player does it on purpose - but Figgy’s attitude throughout his time here means he’ll get the send-off he deserves from me.

I hope he helps us get promoted then gets himself a good move back closer to home.

I hope it's announced before the end of his last game if he does so he can get a good send off ovation and ovation.

His attitude has been sublime, add to that, Cafu and Colback from when they've been out and Cooper says the same about Grabban, along with Cook and how he's conducted himself throughout his career. We've got a squad with exemplary pros and it's rubbing off on the young lads.
