Wish him well, but time to go.

We need to sign better players than we have now.

The fact is he holds a rash streak, and for the prem, that makes him a liability without enough ability.

Wasn't the best defender and certainly not Prem standard but always gave 100% which is all we can ask for.

Wish him well wherever he goes. Hopefully the 'playoff winner' tag opens a few more doors for him.

Always a committed professional, and played good football under Karanka and Cooper.

Will be sad to see him go, but wish him all the best. I'll miss him glaring at the ball like it had personally wronged him.

Great signing that gave the club a great service. Less than a goal a game conceded over 122 games. You really can't argue with that.

He will leave the club with us winning 6 of his last 8 games & conceding 4 in the process, during the best run the club has had for decades, and I hope a good club picks him up.

He will be missed from the squad, and by the fans.
Let's not forget the down sides to his game:
1 often made a serious error in a game (although Cooper ironed that one out);
2 seemed slow with ball at his feet, and reluctant to release it early;
3 Gave away a couple of critical penalties.
However, he had many more positives in his game:
1 Despite not being the tallest, he wasn't often beaten in the air;
2 fearless in making some great tackles, and some goal-saving blocks;
3 kept going for the whole 90 minutes;
4 despite being dropped to the bench, when the opportunity came to take his place in the starting line up he grabbed theopportunity with both hands;

I hope he gets a move to a decent club back in Portugal.

Weird time at the club. Under Kranks he was imperious, under Lamouchi he was okay than under Hughton he was unbelievably roobhish but under Coops he was imperious again.

I will remember him fondly I think. The problem was that period under Hughton was so poor. I know the whole team were poor but he was below that. Anyway this season he did contribute massivley to us so coupled with his time under Kranks will make me remember him fondly. Not connected as well but my new puppy is called Toby!! I wanted him to be called Coops obviously but I just couldnt get that past my missus.

I feel the need to defend him during the Hughton period. It wasn’t just that the whole team
Was crap, it was how he set the team up. We sat so deep that it became almost impossible for the CBs. Any defensive interaction that didn’t result in a clean win of the ball was a chance by virtue of the fact it was happening in or on the edge of the area. And inviting teams on meant that was happening not just 5 or 6 times a game as in a normal set up but 15-20. It takes a special kind of defender to cope with that shit and keep a clean sheet and Van Dyck he is not. But in the same way it’s not fair to judge a striker like grabbs if he’s played alone up front with no one any where near him and fed long aerial balls I honestly don’t think Toby was at fault for the Hughton period

Whilst I agree with what you said and I have admitted that the whole side were rubbish I didnt see Worrall do as many errors as that and he was in the same team. So comparing the 2 I feel he did play poorer than others. However of course I have to caveat that with how imperious he was under Karanka and I loved Toby under Kranks and the spell in the side he had under Coops which was awesome and he was probably our best defender in that period.

So as I said I will remember him fondly definitely.

Was much more often than not very solid and stepped up when he was needed, hope he gets a good club back in Portugal and has a top, injury free remainder of his career.

Obrigado, angry man!

Been a great servant to the club during his time here and didn't let us down when he stepped in earlier this season. Played his part in our promotion. Wish the bloke the best of luck and hope he finds a good club.

I think his game time in the prem would have been limited.

But with that being said, when called upon under SC he performed well and never let himself or anyone else down

I'm grateful for what he's given over the last few years and hope he enjoys the rest of his career.

Goodbye Toby. You gave everything every time you put on a red shirt and for that we will not forget.

Does this count as a smile?

I thought I would see if he had a highlights video, weirdly most of his skills on show are slicing clearances back into the danger zone!

He was a big part of the squad this season with 26 league appearances,and lets face it we didnt do too badly as a team. Called upon when he probably didnt want to be here after the failed transfer in January and helped the cause, I wish him well in whatever he choses to do in the future.

Figs won me over at the end, hope he gets a good move back home which according to the rumours is what he was looking for.

Came in for some unfair criticism at times. Perhaps not the best technically but always put in a shift.

Thanks Tobias, and all the best for the future.

Passionate, hard-working, a bit erratic and inconsistent, never complaining, never smiling, a good player but probably not good enough (for the Premier).

Exactly.
The odd thing about Toby was he was the most "un-Portuguese" player-not great with the ball and technically fairly average. And unlike nearly all the Portuguese lads we've had he really liked the physical side of the game and never shirked a tackle. A good Pro and hopefully hes made enough money with us to make his own choices now...
