Well then.

Overall quite good for periods but the first 2 minutes showed that Blackpool would be going for it big time at some point in the game and they made the whole evening much more difficult than we would have liked.

Omobamidele and Aguilera showed they can play football and could definitely get game time in the league.

Hudson Odoi, as weird as it sounds needs a loan move to get some confidence back but we need his quality due to numbers so we’ll just have to get him through this season and see how he goes.

Danilo makes a few mistakes but is very positive and can pass the ball forward so I’ve no concerns.

Wood was fine and scored. That’s all you need.

Williams may have to play much further forward for the foreseeable as we’ve no proper wide outlets with pace.

Worrall was on for a few minutes and looked dodgy. McKenna was ten times better. If one of them has to leave then it has to be Worrall and we deal with restocking the centre halves in the summer.

Dominguez/Yates/Murillo were varying levels of good. No issues in the slightest. Mangala, looks nice but very expendable although he did cover Vlach well on the line.

Tavares is abysmal and reminds me of Dennis last season so I wouldn’t even bother trying him further forward. Toffolo was miles better when he came on.

Keeper needs to be replaced but it seems like it’s with Tuner which I suppose is gonna have to be ok for the moment.

Exactly. Loads of credit to Blackpool, their supporters can rightly be proud of their sides efforts.

I'm not that concerned about us tonight, we controlled the first half, went 2 up and the pitch played a massive part in levelling things out as Blackpool mounted a comeback by pressing and being aggressive. I was a hell of a lot more pissed off with our first half performance in the first tie
Yeah basically Blackpool defended well and buried 4 out of the 4 and a half chances they had over two games. And fair play to them. We need to be more clinical, but as you say, tricky conditions. I’ll take the win.

In fairness to Blackpool they appeared more energetic than us, closing us down immediately, hardly gving us room to breathe.

A win is a win - though we could have done without having to play an extra half hour.

We made hard work of that one! Hopefully the injuries arent too bad.

For me it highlighted why we need to keep Mangala. If we sold him and MGW was injured, who starts in midfield? IF we do have to sell him we should hold out until deadline day to get a few more games out of him, i would be keeping him though 100%.

Vlach 3
Williams 3

Nuno 5
Yates 7
Mangala 7
Danilo 5
CHO 4

Brandon Aguilera - promising player hopefully see more of him in the league.

Least said about that performance the better but in the Cup all that matters is winning and we did that.

Without MGW and Elanga it’s going to be tough on Saturday.

Well that was 'kin horrible.

Glad we won for Kouyate! Also glad the unwell fan seemed to be OK too.

Two minor but key points, Vlach punching that ball at the end really highlights how bad he is. That looked like an easy claim, yet he invites pressure at every opportunity.

Nuno's Worrall sub settled us down somewhat and for me won the game. He may have left it late, but credit there.

Yates & Aguilera definitely the highlights, although Mangala had a few moments too.
Pretty much agree with you Alf except your point about Joe. His occasionally annoying tendancy to dive-in unnecessarily could potentially have sent the tie to a penalty shoot-out. Thankfully, the lad who took the free-kick was fuc ked. If Joe does that on Saturday in a similar area of the pitch, there's a good chance we'll be punished.

Joe definitely messed up towards the end, but I thought the team as a whole just looked way more together in general after he'd come on.

I think Andy has a good head above those shoulders, I remember watching a short documentary about his rise from Ireland to Norwich and it sounded like the bloke to coached him for many years was kinda like a second dad. Hope we get to see more of him.
