@Thomas I've just noticed your song of the week.

One of my all time favourites. I love Marty Robbins.

Yup, he had such a fantastic voice and a brilliant writer as well.

Thankfully one of my favorite video games of all time, Fallout New Vegas, had his song “Big Iron” on the soundtrack and I was hooked. That song is synonymous with that video game for my generation.

Pretty much agree with you Alf except your point about Joe. His occasionally annoying tendancy to dive-in unnecessarily could potentially have sent the tie to a penalty shoot-out. Thankfully, the lad who took the free-kick was fuc ked. If Joe does that on Saturday in a similar area of the pitch, there's a good chance we'll be punished.
I've still never got over that Derby one, it still winds me up to this day. If he's not learnt in all these years since, he never will.

Joe definitely messed up towards the end, but I thought the team as a whole just looked way more together in general after he'd come on.
Fair enough. When we're defending the 18-yard-box is when Joe is most comfortable (Luton aside). It's when he's asked to operate in a higher line that mostly concerns me.

That said, Andy O gave a good enough account of himself to present Joe with some competition for the right-sided CB role.

There’s plenty of recovery time before Sat’dy.
Lads’ll be out with Holloway & Earnie tonight.
Richard Keogh 🫏 rides on the beach in the morning then back home for a kip.

His accent combined with a deep voice is epic

Edit: spoke really well, said he wants to be apart of something here. Interesting that he named a couple of players, Yates and one other, and said they might’ve slowed down after our second goal.

Sounds like Darragh MacAnthony.

Not pretty in any way. I thought Neco and Tavares were both poor. They are dealing with League One wingers and not looking particularly good. Mangala and Dominguez looked good. Yates played fairly well. CHO was poor. Danilo is still a bit of a coin toss and I don't like that in the center of the park. Wood wasn't given service against a League One side. That has to be a big concern. I know the conditions were poor but there was little between the two sides over two legs and that isn't good enough.

Weirdly I'm quite encouraged after that.

Main takeaway for me was the increased tempo of our passing. The midfielders especially looked to pass and move constantly, creating nice angles for cute passes and layoffs. Dominguez is fantastic at finding unusual angles to pass from, Mangala was his normal neat and tidy self, and Yates more than held his own with those 2. Danilo is still a bit hit and miss. But we actually started to resemble a top class side moving the ball around.
Aguilera is no winger but he can certainly pick a pass.

On the downside Vlach, Tavares can't defend at all, and Neco continues to switch off which I thought he'd stopped doing. CHO is a worry too. He looked slow and he doesn’t seem to have the tools to beat a man without pace, though hopefully this is just a confidence issue. Nuno needs to sit him down in front of some Robbo footage.

Better still, sit him down with Robbo.

Don’t think you can criticise Blackpool for their tactics. They were playing against a premier league team and doing everything they could to win the game and go through. We would have been buzzing to see our players do that sort of thing a few seasons back.
Agreed. Fair play to them. Good blood and thunder cup tie on a freezing January night with no VAR, and stacks of dirty snow obscuring the advertising hoardings. Proper old school cup footie.

Just back. Good win in the end, Dominguez MoM for me. Work rate unbelievable.

Keeper, Tavares both shocking. Too cold for CHO. Mangala kills all forward momentum. Thought Wood was poor until the final 15. Joe is a liability.

The rest decent. Subs helped. Young lad played great.
To be honest I thought Mangala did ok.
Great support from you guys once again. We could hear you loud and proud on the tv.👍

The only positive I'm taking from that is that it's over and there is a lot less likelihood we draw them again in the cups three years on the spin.
We played some nice stuff at times but we've taken 230 minutes of football to beat a team that isn't even in the League One Playoffs, playing more or less our strongest team.

I hope we take Bristol City seriously and put a performance in, perhaps we can get a bit of a run going.

That said, magic of the cup or not, them being 2-0 up and us struggling to draw and force a replay was humiliating enough, to blow a two goal lead and have to shithouse a tap-in to win in Extra Time is worse.
