Concerned with the lack of form and teams below picking up points, but hopeful after the character, fight and attacking threat shown yesterday (without the key man Awoniyi).

Just wish the players would concentrate after scoring a goal. I have it in my head every time we score; 'Focus, focus, focus'.

Fingers crossed, Nuno will organise the lads and set their mentality right within time.

As disappointing as this season has been so far, we're still in a situation where 'all' we need to do is equal the points of Luton, Burnley and SU over 20 games. Now I'm not taking that for granted, but if we can't achieve that we really don't deserve to stay up.

We're on a bad run and they have all improved lately, but that will change and I still think a point per game would see us safe. I also think we've been very unlucky in games lately... decisions and someone like Solanke being red hot... whereas I feel some of our competitors are getting the breaks. Hopefully form and fortune will even out.

I agree. Before the disgraceful Specsavers incident we were well up for at least a point against one of the form teams. Who knows whether 10 men cost us, but kudos to Forest for giving it a darn good go.
As to the great redoubt:
1 against 3 is not great odds relegation wise, but I confidently predict the Blades will be bluntened after their Wilder bounce goes flat.
1 against 2 is much better odds for survival and experience should be telling.
Survival is all.
Nuno showed intent at half time to play a trump card. That sends the right message.
I thought Forest played with more of the Forest roar, a lot of positives to take from the match, but Murillo is not going to help our cause here.
Turner obviously has a lack of confidence as seen from his body language when he clutches the ball and hugs the turf - but there is nobody else from my armchair pov.
Wood had a good game and our number 10 was MOM. No. 20 not far off.
Positive Christmas vibes

As well as the two keepers not being up to standard, especially Turner giving goals/points away...

I have to say through gritted teeth as good and exciting as Murillo is, he's also cost us a goal or two this season.
Murillo is going to be a top player, but we really shouldn't be relying on him as much as we have at his age. Unfortunately we can't really take him out of the firing line at the moment.

Hoping that Nino chap comes in and gives us another option. Especially with Niakhate and Boly at AFCON.

I think it's more his lack of experience that's beginning to show rather than his age as such. There's no doubt he possesses brilliant natural ability, but he's still very much raw and learning on the job.

William Saliba is only a year older and Arsenal sent him out on loan in Ligue 1 for a few seasons before they were confident he was ready for the Premier League. Saliba has played 134 times more than Murillo has at club level and is now one of the best defenders in the world.

Speaking of Ligue 1 defenders, rumours say Forest are looking to sign Arouna Sangante from Le Havre. He's another 21 year old. Could get a bit confusing with Sangare and Sangante.....

I'd love to see some stats on when teams concede goals. We seem to concede loads straight away after scoring ourselves.

It's a pretty common theme in football that you're at your most vulnerable to conceding within five minutes of scoring.
Some get caught in the mental gymnastics of pushing for another or worrying about conceding and losing the advantage.

The second one is what I think happens to us, we scored early in the second half yesterday but then you look at the clock and you realise that we're down to ten men and Bournemouth are going to kitchen sink us for 35 minutes now. Us scoring, meant they couldn't f*** about anymore and they had to go for it and we had survive over half an hour like that.

Scoring at the ends or starts of halves tends to be a concentration issue. You build focus throughout the half, and peak at about 30-35 minutes in. Then the descent usually begins until the end of the half from there.

We definitely have a mentality issue though.

The operative word in my post was 'fantasy'.

My only fantasy is one where Eva Green and Scarlett Johansson play a starring role.

Errm! I'm off for a lay down now. I may be some time.

I feel our squad is more than good enough to stay up, better than the bottom 3 by some distance and better than several above us - but as individuals. We lack cohesion, fight and a settled team. All points that have been said before. I would rather have a squad of 5/10 skilled people with fight and cohesion rather than individuals who are 7 or 8/10. This is where the other teams are beating g us - they are a better unit.

Thank the Lord for Thomas and Otis’ posts! We were beaten, yesterday, by poor decisions that were out of our control, on the day. The one defender Nuno trusts, who would have gotten on the end of balls in the air, to Solanke, had been sent off, for reasons that have baffled the footballing world, apart from the daft twat in black. For me, the atmosphere in the ground was good - if anything because it was galvanised by the ’us against the world’ mentally. The spirit amongst the lads was impressive and they need to take that feeling of injustice into the rest of the season. We can do this, lads, keep your chins up and don’t get too down (I also need to take a bit of my own medicine)… bring on the battle for survival.

No one has ever thanked the lord for my posts

Because Nuno wouldn’t allow anything other than his best players? I’m sure Nuno would remove himself from Mendes’ clientele list if we got another Carvalho in.

The discussion was about Mendes 'thinning out the squad'.

Thought you were talking about the bringing players in tbf.

Uhh regarding thinning out maybe Mendes can pull a few strings that way as well. We are talking about the most influential football agent currently I’m sure he can do that for his old bestie Nuno. And lots of money.
