Their keeper is brilliant whenever I've seen him and obviously would fit this seasons brief for us of being unavailable for AFCON too!

In more VfB Stuttgart News; the new investment comes at a good time, as the VfB are fined €250.000 by the DFB for multiple offences of letting off pyrotechnics during the Bundesliga match against FC Bayern (a game I attended) and in the cup against 1. FC Nürnberg. Oops.

Germany‘s Federal Cartel Office announces that with the agreement of the 36 professional clubs, the „50+1“ rule will remain, and no investor will be able to take control of a German professional club (which means the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga).

The Office also announced that - for now - the three exemptions to the rule will remain (TSG Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg) and that no further exemptions will be granted, ever.

It also suggested to the three exempted clubs that they make efforts to return a balance of shares to club members, effectively diluting their controlling holding.

Dietmar Hopp, the often-maligned billionaire from Hoffenheim (a founder of SAP, and a native of Hoffenheim, who bankrolled their rise up the German pyramid) has already announced he will give back overall control of TSG to its members, without any compensation.

The Office also confirms that whilst LawnBall Sport Leipzig are in compliance with the rule, they implemented it in a way that is not within the spirit of the intended way „50+1“ is supposed to work (LawnBall Sport have a mere twenty members, all of whom are senior employees of a Red Bull company). And Die Röten Bullen wonder why everyone hates them.

Sure has been asked before, but just bringing it up again as I talked to one of their fans the other day haha:

Do any on here somewhat pay attention to Olympiacos? Or really don't care one way or the other? I thought I might start to as just love watching football; but then again with Forest, Charlotte FC, and AGF, I have plenty already to keep me occupied haha.

Just curious.

I tried, but I can't get deeply into another club. So they're in the cursory classification.

I'm the same, other clubs are a passing interest if it sort of relates to us, but not any real interest.

Linnets excluded of course, they are in a special category.

More VfB Stuttgart News:

The club have announced that they’ve sold 33.200 season tickets in the last two weeks, the highest number since 2019.

Understandably, the club are very happy with this, especially on the back of the recent investment from Porsche. What with the continuing refurbishment of the Haupttribüne stand (to be completed before next summers‘ Euro 2024) of the now-renamed MHP-Arena, this will take overall capacity back up towards 60k again.

Didn't know the German league had started already. Bet everyone there still hates RB Leipzeg for ruining German football.
(Just because someone asked…)

Rottach-Egern is a district in southern Bayern, bordering Austria.

Their - completely amateur - football club plays in the Bayern State Association football pyramid, competing in the Kreisliga which is the fifth-tier of the pyramid in Bayern, and overall, the eighth-tier of German football.

The Bayern Kreisliga System has 633 teams competing in 43 different divisions, so the quality is a bit variable.

FC Rottach-Egern have a history of playing friendly matches against FC Bayern, having now met the club from München twelve times in preseason (dating from 1968) and in that time, they’ve yet to taste victory.

It’s sort-of an equivalent to Manchester City agreeing a preseason friendly against the Clifton All-Whites. And the score there would probably be something similar.

I don't get what either team got out of it though?

Me neither, to be honest Bazza.

For Bayern, it is an absolute stroll, playing against a side who would struggle to give the Dog & Duck a game; for the hosts, well, they get to see some Bayern players up close, but it is kind of hard to absorb that when you have just taken an absolute pasting from the German Champions.

But, it is maybe a „Bayern“ thing. Folk from that state are, frankly, a bit weird.

I just pressed the wrong button on the computer (a not unknown problem) and found myself looking at a list of clubs playing in the first qualifying round of the European Conference League, which West Ham took such joy in winning last season.

I'm thought at first that it was a joke list, but it appears to be genuine. I mean, did you ever hear of a club called Honka? Or Torpedo Kutaisi? Sutjeska Niksic?

More VfB Stuttgart news, in that the club - both the „parent“ association (owned by its members) and the subsidiary company that owns the first-team, have decided to establish a new non-profit organisation, "Brustring der Herzen", which is supported by VfB Stuttgart AG and VfB Stuttgart e.V. in equal parts as shareholders.

The board of trustees includes the former VfB and national coach Joachim Löw, Stuttgart's Bundesliga-champion goalkeeper of 2007, Timo Hildebrand, as well as the politicians Cem Özdemir (Greens) and Günther Oettinger (CDU). The aim is to promote sport, health, education, education, environmental and climate protection, welfare and social commitment.

„The VfB Stuttgart sees itself as the engine of an entire region and wants to make an important contribution to an open, democratic society with the foundation, which enables sustainable, sustainable cooperation," explains Alexander Wehrle, CEO of the VfB AG. „Education and lifelong learning are important pillars."
