United's net spend in the last 5 years is double City's.

I've never seen so much salt on twitter. It's brilliant.
The spend isn't relevant though Adam, all big clubs will spend money but City overspent & weren't inline with FFP limits

Without that breach they may not have been in this position

I'm not defending Man U though, I can't f***ing stand them either

When Forest won it could you lose your first Three games on the spin and still win it?

By the logic of it being harder to win now will it be even harder when it becomes a full on league in a year or two?

Saw a Leeds fan saying it was harder to win when they never won it but sing about winning it because Bayern and Ajax and Real were at their peak..... statements like that require a hard drive check imo.

Juventus, AC, Inter, Roma, PSG, Besiktas, Monaco and Marseille were all fined for FFP breaches last season.

Man Utd famously have a humongous debt.

Leicester and Bournemouth were fined after being promoted.

And who knows what happened before FFP rules were a thing.

Cheating is cheating, City have just gone big to establish themselves at the top table.

I just say "yeah, we couldn't beat Barcelona because the competition was so strong they didn't even qualify so beat we beat them in the Super Cup instead"

So some of City's competitors have been punished for breaching ffp but City haven't yet

& you don't think that taints their achievements

You say City spent big to establish themselves yet Derby spent big to get into the PL so assume you're fine with their approach

I’m not saying it’s fine or not, it just seems to be quite a common thing now. Derby very nearly got away with promotion and would have just paid a fine if they had.

It seems UEFA don’t impose sanctions other than fines either. The CL could be been tainted whoever wins it.

Not everyone's cup of tea but if you're not really passionate about Forest and youve sold out to the money here's a good radio5 podcast/show on Gardiola

A couple of interesting comments from Guilame Balogue about Pep's philosophy and playing with the best players money can buy...

His core idea is trying to take luck out of the game but you need a certain type of player to do that.

But NASA don't go to local electricians to build ships to go to space. They buy the best engineers money can buy.

I've heard Balague talk about that before in regards to the different approaches of Guardiola and Mourinho. Pep has a scientific approach getting his players to tirelessly practise scenarios and shapes getting players telling players what is the best decision to make. Jose on the other thinks football is too random to do that, so tends to go for experienced players that will make the correct on-field decisions. It's weird because you'd think it'd be the other way round. Philosophically I'm inclined to agree with Mourinho as Pep's approach seems soulless and you'd think it'd kill flair (almost American Football in its approach) but Pep's football is better and has been more successful in recent years.

I prefer the Clough approach personally-have a few beers and tell ‘em to pass it to a fat little Scotsman
on the left wing.

The problem I have with the city win yesterday (well, AMONGST the problems I have with it) is that they are awarding the trophy that we won.

At least the Premier League had the decency to get their own pot.

If UEFA had commissions a new bit of silverware to reflect that you don't have to be champions or holders to qualify, and you can lose 2 games in a row and still win the thing, then I could get behind an English team succeeding.

But they bastardised the competition but still award the trophy from when it was a completely different animal, - no - I can't get behind City winning.

This doesn't surprise.

His conversations with Tuchel are legendary. They would meet In a cafe in Munich and could chat tactical stuff for hours. Sometimes 10 hours and repeated for days at a time.

He has a encyclopedic knowledge of games and tactics.

When people say Pep isn't a great manager because .... it reminds of those people who always days Clough was just lucky.

You are not wrong Eddie and I see Man City as an antihero. They obviously broke the rules but the system before stank. How is it a good system if the only way Chelsea, City and now Newcastle can compete is by being bought by multi billionaires. Salary caps and and a better redistribution model would have meant you didn’t dictatorships money but no the established elite would never accept that.

The system is shit Emmo but that doesn't make City's ffp breach acceptable

& for f*** sake don't get me started on Newcastle, I've had a few drinks in the sunshine & that one can be left for another day
That day will be when folk on here start noshing off that smug twat Eddie Howe

The Pep brand of football is admired, but it seems reasonably easy to stop them playing. Plenty of Prem clubs do it all the time and City just squeeze past them with an inspired goal.

Most Man City games seem to devolve into attack against defence with the opposition quite content to soak it up for most of the game then break on them. The Barcelona style was similar, but I thought their team consisted of better players who moved the ball much quicker.

Last night, Inter were so close to actually winning in those final minutes. I was convinced if they had played that way for longer they would have done.

It can't be denied that City get the job done, but it's mostly very boring and stodgy.

City were Champions and where unbeaten in the competition.
