I'm going to contact Rob tomorrow to see what's happening, i know it's a monumental project but keeping us in the loop after receiving our payments would of been acceptable.

I've also paid up front for the 150 Club edition and received nothing as yet. I e-mailed Rob last week requesting an update but have not heard anything so far (wasn't really expecting to, sadly). I guess in wanting to create an ultimate history of NFFC the author has decided that for added authenticity he should recreate the club's pre-Fawaz era total lack of communication. Genius.

Re: NFFC 150

I received the poster to my old address despite sending an update. Despite being defensive of Rob earlier in this thread it has been a very poor experience all round, I can't imagine there are that many subscribers to keep updated.

What gets me is that it's so inexplicable as to why there should be such a lack of updates and general communication. How long does it take to type a couple of lines summarising roughly what's left to be done in terms of finishing the book and send them as a group e-mail to everyone who has sent him a PayPal payment? Five minutes, tops, and yet month after month we hear nothing. Really, really odd.

it is really comforting to know there are alot of other people in the same position as me.
the longer it goes on with no communication the harder it gets to be patient.
all these people saying it will be worth the wait, well how long till we get worried.
come on those people who know him message him,get him to face up and tell us whats happening.

Firstly I want to reassure all subscribers you that you will be getting everything you ordered, and please remember that you will actually be getting more than you originally ordered with there now being three volumes instead of two and all three will still be issued this year.
The final delay with volume 1 is, in part, due to agreeing a tie-up with the Nottingham Post to promote the books this spring. As we are only printing books we get orders for, we have to ensure that we get as many pre-orders as possible. The Post has kindly agreed to run a series of articles about the books, starting in April 2014, I'll be posting links to the first two in a moment. If you know anyone who might be interested please ask them to take a look or drop me a line. I have been sending out the first sets of Ltd Ed prints and if yours hasn't arrived yet it will do very soon. Here is the latest batch getting ready for mailing. If you qualified for the card sets they will be sent with Volume one after we print at the end of May. Thanks for your patience, much more soon!

Last update was on May 12, and then nothing.

My advice to him would be: communicate better (or at all) with people who have paid up to £100 up front, and don't take on such a mammoth task with unrealistic deadlines if you can't do it.

I am thinking the same mate, could do with that money at the minute. Wouldn't mind so much if I'd had something, or had replies to my emails. He was good at emailing when he was demanding the money.

Because more than 45 days have passed since the first payment of the £95 has passed PayPal say they cannot do anything.

to me
Dear 150 Club member,

I've been sending out some newsletters and reminders about the Historical Almanac project and thought it was about time to update you all on the project and present a
couple of other offers.

Firstly I wanted to thank you all again for subscribing to the 'top' version of the project, it's vital to get some funding up front to enable me to spend the time on the books
and I'm really excited that these can be the best Forest books ever. I hope that doesn't sound big-headed but the amount of stories and new information is overwhelming.

For example, we now have the names and draft bios of over 400 players pre-1900 and many previously unpublished images.

As part of the 150 Club offer you'll be getting the 2CDs of interview material that I've amassed. Some of you will have seen my updates on www.pineapplebooks.co.uk
or www.facebook.com/Nffc150 but if not, here is a teaser from the Brian Clough interview which I'll be including:

###
On 20th August 2003 I was working at home. I'd just sat down at my desk with a sandwich for
lunch when the phone rang. Expecting it to be my wife calling on her lunch break I answered
the phone with half a mouthful of food:
"Hello?"
"Is that Rob?"
"Yes"
"Rob, it's Brian Clough. John McGovern said you wanted to talk to me. You've got ten minutes. Make
it good."
Choking down the food, I just about had the presence of mind to hit 'record' on the tape recorder
which I always had rigged to the phone. My mind raced with what I could ask first, mindful that I
had to 'make it good'. Over an hour later I finally put the phone down, my head spinning. Interviewing
Brian Clough was all I'd imagined it to be and more. He'd called me 'Young Man', he'd scalded me for
laughing too much at some of his answers, "Never mind all that laughing, you just make sure you're
getting it all down!" He'd spoken of his entire career, with emphasis on the glory years at Forest, but
much more besides.
###

My main offer is this email is for 150 Club members to buy a further set of the Standard Issue, which includes the two books, each signed by one ex-player, a numbered copy and the subscriber's name in
each volume.

I'm taking orders for these at £60 per set, but as an offer to 150 Club members who might want to buy a set for a friend or relative (they'll make great Christmas present !) you can order a set for just £50,
payable as a £20 deposit now, and then further payments of £15 and £15.

Not only am I knocking off £10 to 150 Club members but I'll also send an extra, third, CD of interview material with your own 150 Club package.

Just email me with the name of the subscriber you'd like in the standard version.

Finally, several people have been in touch asking about previous Forest books and I've dug through some old boxes to come up with the following:

paperback: Forest Giants (written with John McGovern) signed "To Keith, Best Wishes John McGovern" £12 + £3 UK P&P (one only)

paperback: Official Illustrated History £10 +£3 UK P&P (one only)

Hardback: Images of Nottingham Forest, spare copy usually only sold in a set, signed by John McGovern £25 +£3 UK P&P (one only)

Hardback: Official Illustrated History, usually only sold as part of a set, £15 + £3 UK P&P (3 copies available)

These are available on a first come, first served basis so drop me a line if you want any of them.

Many thanks again for your continued support and even if you don't wish to make any further purchases please feel free to spread the word to anyone else you might think would be interested.

Cheers!

Rob

Dear Gareth,

I hope you are well and that the football-less summer has been good.

Just a quick note to kindly ask if you could pay the second instalment of £30 for the Forest Almanacs as soon as possible.

The PayPal address to use is rob@jovanovic.co.uk

The third and final payment will be due in approximately 12 months time prior to Volume 2 being printed.

It is fast getting to the production stage with Volume 1 and we want everything to progress as smoothly as possible.

We are finalising the page layout and will have some more samples online this week. I also hope to start announcing the names of the ex-players who will be signing the books shortly.

Many thanks for your continued support,
Rob.

PS.
We are still working on the artwork for the limited edition print. It is based around a timeline which includes all the important moments and characters from the club's history. The obvious places such as Munich and Madrid, Wembley, The City Ground and the Forest recreation ground are included, as are Clough, Pearce, Robertson, McGovern, McKinlay, Widdowson, Ardron, etc, but who and what else do you think deserves a mention outside of the obvious choices?

Hi Rob,

was wondering whether you got my previous email? I've heard nothing about the book and it is now April - you stated Vol. 1 would be sent out in January.

Hope everything is ok at your end.

All the best,
Gareth

Hopefully these emails will give people some idea of the communication (or lack thereof except when Rob is asking for money) I've had with this project.

A simple email and a demonstration of faith in customers who have bankrolled the project isn't much to ask for.

This has been going on since March 2013.

Where's me hammer?
Re: NFFC 150

It's pretty shit to be fair if that's how he's playing it.

Just charge back on paypal as item not received then escalate it if he hasn't responded to it in 48 hours. (I bet he will have time to fight the dispute)

If he's got time to answer disputes on paypal he's got time to email his customers with updates.

Re: NFFC 150

I'm sure it's not a scam as I've dealt with Rob numerous times on similar projects, but the lack of communication is concerning.
