PINEAPPLE BOOKS.....

Just heard from Rob, he's out of the country but says all is going ahead and he will be getting on the forum at the end of this week to update.

Good show. He's always struck me as a decent bloke who's probably more interested in the subject of the books he does than the business involved.

No update as yet but I did notice what I think was a grey squirrel earlier. Pictures to follow.

Re: NFFC 150

I wouldn't be hasty in acquiring refunds. I agree it's unprofessional but this is a labour of love that's overrun I'm sure.

This. I can't see it being published in May either. The wait may be a while longer, the content promised sounds very in depth

Re: NFFC 150

I ain't brought one but if I'd sold anything to anybody its just common courtesy to keep them in the loop.

I received a letter and a bonus poster thing around 2 weeks ago from him detailing what is happening. I assumed everyone else would be receiving this but it appears not. I'll put on here what he sent when I get back from work this evening, but in summary it is all going ahead! No need to get refunds or anything.

Around Christmas time I received a little booklet, around 8 pages, which shows a few pictures and writing about the book itself, with no mention of when it would sent out. There was also a poster of the earliest known Forest document.

2/3 weeks ago I received a letter, as well as another copy of the poster. The letter reads:

HISTORICAL ALMANAC: NEWSLETTER APRIL 2014

Dear Subscriber,

Many apologies for the time between newsletters, and the continued wait for the books. Firstly I want to reassure you that you will be getting everything you have ordered, and please remember that you will actually be getting more than you originally ordered with there now being three volumes instead of two and all three will still be issued this year.

The final delay with volume 1 is, in part, due to agreeing a tie-up with the Nottingham Post to promote the books this spring. As we are only printing books we get orders for, we have to ensure that we get as many pre-orders as possible. The Post has kindly agreed to run a series of eight articles about the books, starting on Monday 7th April 2014. If you know anyone who might be interested please ask them to take a look or drop me a line.

Finally, please find enclosed the first of the limited edition prints and some info about why it is a unique document of the club. The card sets will be posted out with volume 1 in late May / early June, with volume two following at the end of the summer and the final instalment in the autumn.

Many thanks again for your patience, I'm sure you'll find it's all worth the wait!

Cheers for now,
(signature in pen)
Rob

I'm not sure why no one else seems to have received as it definitely doesn't seem to be unique to me. Anyway, late May/early June it is!

Haha I would say if I was.

To be honest I'm even more curious as to why I appear to be the only one to receive it. I had tried getting in touch over email and Facebook like everyone and got no reply.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll arrive when he said and we'll all be vaguely satisfied.

I think there is always a series of problems Rob has to fix. IIRC every book I've had from him has been delayed. Get on with your life and enjoy it when it happens.

Aye, valspoodle is right - as I noted above, this is an individual working on a labour of love, not a corporation mass producing something (and even then delays can happen). The lack of communication is frustrating (I've just had to send him my new address - hoping he gets it sorted!

i wish i could take in excess of £90 off complete strangers and over a year later not bother delivering what i had promised?
anyone want to send me £90 let me know and i will send you and invoice.
oh and by the way i lost over 5 grand in forest shares a number of years ago,and i fly down from inverness to watch the reds home or away,so think i might
be a little entitled to feel aggrieved that i have had no correspondence, via telephone, letter.email, facebook etc
yet when he wanted money he was chasing every other day.a previous post said they had contacted him and he would be letting us know by the end of the week, that was 3 weeks ago!!!

I hear ya brother.
I know Rob, and he is a decent honest guy, maybe just like the rest of us and is useless at organizing his time.

Many apologies for the delay in replying to this thread. Those of you that know me understand that Pineapple Books is a strange
beast in that it is a labour of love but also a business and the lines between the two can get hazy when deadlines are concerned!
That's not to say I've been sitting on a beach (though the photo posted earlier would have been uncannily accurate if I was) but
I have been juggling promoting the book to get more sales (which are needed to balance the number of hours put into this project - so far even minimum wage would be miles away) and to finish it off. You might have seen the start of some excerpts appearing in the Nottingham Post, there are more coming (you'll find them online) and then we will be printing the first volume, hopefully before
the end of May, but it could well be early June. I do try my best but I don't have marketeers, distributors and so on to help me. I know all the Forest books published to date and can safely say these new ones will contain more than anything else ever
published. I want to also remind any nervous subscribers that you are getting three volumes instead of the originally advertised
two books to compensate for the delays (the printing and postage of which is straight out of any profit I might make), but also
because I have so much material to include. These books won't be in the shops so pre-orders are the only way to make the book
possible and the only way to allow me the time to produce them. I'll try and get back on here more often, and I will be updating
the Facebook page too. I have sent out the first batches of posters, the rest are following as soon as I can. Thanks again for the your patience and understanding, Rob.
