I knew nothing about him prior to us being linked with him, other than his goal record from last season.
So far I think he's okay but nowhere near the £6m we paid for him. Especially considering his age. But hopefully we've not seen the best of him because of the lack of service our midfield supplies so, as we progress, that might improve. Not written him off, however another striker in Jan will offer competition.

I’d like to see how he gets on with someone like Soudani or Ansarifard next to him.

Did Villa play him on his own last year? Didn’t he have Hogan next to him for a lot of the time he was there?

Bit of both, he did play & score as a lone striker for Villa. Could be argued he had a bit more ready made quality behind him though.

Played well and scored his first goal in midweek. Follows it up by calmly netting the winner yesterday. Keep up the good work Lewis.

Needed him when we went down to ten & he was nowhere to be seen. Stood in no mans land neither attacking or defending, no urgency, even if he'd just spoiled or done something to make life difficult for their Cbs. Nope, he just gave them licence to keep firing balls in at will.

Second to every loose ball, never got out of second gear.

It may not have been his game, but that aint an excuse.

Murphy at Blackburn please.

 - I think that's what called a conversion on the road to Blackburn.

Guess that's Grabb's back in the scapegoat of the week pigeon hole again.

I thought his passing was good tonight, but agree he seemed a bit lethargic given he came on as sub

It was interesting to compare Grabban and Afobe, both of whom came on as subs last night.
Afobe's introduction resulted in Stoke moving up a couple of gears, him scoring a good goal through his physical presence and effort, and him putting pressure on the Forest defence.
Grabban came on, strolled around, allowed himself to be bullied, and had little or no positive impact on the game.
I know which of the 2 I would have liked to bring to the Club in the summer.

I wasn't at the game last night, so can't really comment on that. But, from what I've seen of him so far, he's the best striker we have had at the club for a good few years (aside from a fit Assombalonga). Admittedly this isn't a very high bar.

FFS - give the guy a bloody break! He came on when we had our backs to the wall and every Forest player was under pressure! Yes he had a few heavy touches but I completely disagree that he didn't look bothered! At one point he was still running to the penalty area being wrestled by one of their centre halves!

He was never going to look good given the numerical disadvantage, when panic set in, we naturally resorted to putting our foot through it.

That dont absolve him from the defensive work though, without the ball, he seemed happy to trot around in no mans land not contributing either way. Wouldnt want him in the trenches with me, nor away from home where hard graft & a desire to keep the ball up field can make all the difference.

Afobe is a £10m+ striker who's wages we wouldn't be able to afford. Clubs like Stoke have quite a few players we wouldn't be able to afford. Its why we also missed out on the likes of Abraham.

I think we got the best we could for the money. Grabban will add to his tally of 2 goals and 1 assist in 6 starts

The problem is, we'd probably turn Afobe into another Akinbiyi.

I think it's best to stick with what we've got.

We've invested £6m so we wouldn't want that to go to waste and it might just be taking Grabban a bit of time to settle. See David Johnson, who was also a good finisher that just didn't start firing straight away for whatever reason.

We have to have to stay positive and confident he will get better.

I don't doubt that, but how many indifferent and insipid performances will we see along the journey?
Last night needed the lone striker to be making a real nuisance of himself, specially seeing as we were down to 10 men.
I am sure Grabban will net a few goals, but we need a bigger contribution from him in between the strikes.

He came on when we were 3-0 up.

They scored a couple of minutes later.

It was backs to the wall after he came one.

Coincidence ?

Id start Murphy, his scoring stats are comparable & he's a much better bet to keep the ball in Blackburns half for longer & keep Carvalho interested.

Our away performances are all about attrition, the strikers got to put himself about, defend from the front.

It’s good that people don’t agree on who our starting striker should be. Happy days.

I'd start Grabban because he's our best striker.

He's not our best striking option away at Blackburn.

We're gonna be a bit more direct, so by definition, the attacking element to our game will rely on the strikers ability to compete physically & bring others in.

Grabbans played himself out that role recently & Murphys played his way in.

Unless Murphys knackered from Stoke, Id be shocked if he doesnt start.
