Well to be fair a lot of our fans that have been here commenting for more then 6 months were willing to get rid of Yates a season and half ago and calling him dog shite. Quite a few don't know their arse from their elbow.

Maybe, but he clearly had talent, some players careers just don't pan out, though what we were doing shelling out that amount of money for an unproven kid I don't know, even though it was exciting at the time

Got to thinking just how much we missed Carvalho last night watching that League 1 clogger Yates.
I mean just look at Carva's record this year at footballing legends Estoril. 10 games played, 0 goals, 0 assists....the kids clearly the f***ing greatest player ever.
I think we should totally change the entire squad and team dynamic, maybe even sack Cooper, just to bring Carvalho back and accommodate him.

I get all the mockery but there's also an element of sadness. The guy really did have talent. Just lacked the force of character to make it work. What a waste.

To be honest I feel sorry for him too. My mockery is aimed at the "Cult of Carvalho". I never got it. There was potential there for sure, but some fans seemed to think that he was far better than he was. He was a luxury player, which you can just about afford in the Championship (e.g. Adel Taarabt, Lewis McGugan) but when they get the ball they have to do something. But he didn't contribute consistently enough. I just found the worship of him bizarre. Although players like Majewski used to be inconsistent, and would drift in and out of games, he'd always put a shift. I don't think Carvalho was lazy, just didn't have the know-how to get himself into games. The price tag and level expectation wasn't fair. But if he'd come through the academy, I reckon he'd be held in similar esteem to Eugen Bopp (i.e. a skillful young talent that just never quite made it and faded out of the game, and most people would just forget about).
