In an uncharacteristic show of bad temper, he got a yellow card for obstructing a foul kick, then continued to do so, while talking to the ref. Bouchalakis (as captain) had to run and push him away, quite visibly, since the ref was about to show Carvalho a second yellow.

The manager got angry and subbed him two minutes before half-time and Carvalho left the field mumbling and without greeting the manager.

Odd.

It's not a side of the game we ever saw from him at forest, hope he proves himself over there.

He got a assist for the winning goal, a corner. Doing well getting a run of games, hopefully he can push on and fulfill his potential. Think we can liken him to some of the youngster we have sold for millions and not done much, they need time and patience to develop. Compare that with worral, Yates, cash, Osborne who were given that rather then burke, appiah, Diaz has come good this season though.

Wonder if we have a sell on clause?.

Glad he is doing well, not really surprised though

Yes but sometimes its about the place as much as the player. Although there will be a barrage of people saying different, I don't think he was cut out for Championship football. Sure he had "moments" but that's what they were and that's not good enough in a league like this.

Given our collective wanking about the signings that have come in during the Murphy/Coops era the other side is we have to accept it when they don't think a player is up to it/what they need. Coops had a good long look at Carvs. He hardly got on the pitch and was moved on at the first opportunity. That says it all really.

It's not so much that he was not "good enough" for the Championship, it's more that he was ill-adapted to the needs of the Championship. We can afford to have a player who's not running up and down for 90 minutes, who's not physical in all his challenges, who's not able to run quickly with the ball at his feet, who does not create chances for himself, by himself, because what we're looking for in a no. 10 is some key passes, a few moments of brilliance that cut through a well-drilled defence.

Our no. 10 over the last few years, Kostas Fortounis, is pretty much the same. He is not excellent throughout the match; in fact, he is usually annoyingly absent for most of the match; and yet, three or four moves and passes of his usually make the difference between a draw and a win.

Fortounis, incidentally, is the main problem for Carvalho's future over here, because he's just come back from a very long injury (he missed almost the entire season). Carvalho's doing OK, but Fortounis is a better player overall. There's room for both of them in the team, but one of them will have to settle for the bencher's role.

Yes, I accept those points and in some ways its what made it so hard (and controversial) with regard to Carvalho here at Forest in that everyone could see his touch and technical excellence and that's something that's hard wired into Forest fans. But at the end of the day it doesn't really matter what the reason is for someone not making the grade in a certain type of football the output is the same.

In the meantime we have to accept players of lesser technical ability but more overall influence in the here and now in the hope that one day we will be playing at a level that allows us to afford the very best....

Fair play to him for even thinking about us let alone tweeting it. The guys career completely stalled here and I wouldn't have held it against him if he hated this club.

My experience of the Portuguese is they are not like that-bitter I mean.
I think now the dust has settled its clear to all (including I suspect Joao) that the problem was it was a bad fit for him here in the Championship with us-that happens. theres no point "blaming" anyone and you can look at it the other way that hes been looked after in the Marinakis stable moving with the minimum of fuss to a different playing environment. My guess is he won't want to kick out at the big man by slagging off one of his clubs and who knows maybe hes got a promotion bonus in his contract that's still enforceable!! if we go up!

To be fair you don't easily forget a club with a fanbase that regularly chanted your name regardless of your involvement, that being said Carvs was always a good lad who handled his self well even if the playing situation here wasn't always ideal for him. Had and clearly still has a lot of respect for the club + fans

Ya cant hate a club that's given you a 1.3 MILLION signing on fee and paid him a fortune for 3 or 4 years.

I'd WORSHIP NFFC if I wa him.
