Re: James Garner

Pretty sure Boro will want a deal for Spence that's majority cash up front, they've already been over spending and Wilder will want to spend more (as always)

Sure, but even in this scenario and in budgeting terms we only express an amortised proportion.

Re: James Garner

Can't see a permanent deal, but another loan should be possible if we get promoted. Though then we're helping develop the player of a direct rival :)

3 years on loan to the same club??!!!. That must be some sort of record.

Having spent all my time arguing that Jimmy won't get a chance at ManU I now think different and I think he will go back next year and get a shot. Ten Hag will know the value of a few home grown lads in there-its always been the Manure way and I think Jimmy is desperate for a shot at it such that if you offered him 10-20 games including as a sub in a season I think he'd take it.

Wouldn’t be three years though?

Two-season loans are quite common in Germany; as I’ve posted before, FC Bayern „legend“ Philipp Lahm earned his stripes during a two-season loan to my local side.

Garner will not be in the Championship next season.

Neither will you.

I still think a buy (with a substantial sell-on clause) is feasible. Not by any chance an easy task, but feasible.

Not sure about your maths Strummer-last season and this season equals two seasons. If we were to get him again next year that's another season equalling three....

Re: James Garner

I can't see any way that Jimmy won't be in the Man U squad next season. He's highly valued by the coaching staff, who will be advocating for him big time. He has proven himself over two seasons of man's football in a tough league. There's a new manager who has a record of bringing on young players. And disgruntled Man U fans would be appeased by seeing someone who has come up through the ranks get a chance. Alas for us, I'd be amazed if he's not given a chance there.

All depends on the new lad coming in anyway and if he fits that system. They’re gonna throw everything at signing that Dutch midfielder from Barca so we’ll see where he ends up in the depth chart.

Man U will look at him in pre season & then spunk 100s of millions on some overpriced overhyped shite players & we'll get him back

I hope so, but something tells me Ten Hag has more about him than that....

I did see a stat that showed that Manure are the biggest spending side in the premier league, beating all the "usual" suspects. That being the case they are hopeless at getting it right. Their biggest periods of success have always coincided with a spine that is home grown...

Just before Colin Frey finally finished last night at 11.30pm he mentioned that Jimmy Garner was still on the pitch. Having one last look at the ground or taking it in because it's where he feels at home?

this is garner last game at the city ground, probably last look. He might be fond of forest but his desire lies in breaking into man yoo first team.

3 years on loan is definitely unusual, but I wouldn't rule it out. Would be a very big call for Ten Hag, who'll be under big pressure immediately, to use him with any kind of regularity.

The equation could easily be play a full year of Premier league football for Forest vs play for Man U in the league cup and come off the bench in the league a few times

Might not be his last game at the City Ground if he starts playing for Man United he can visit when we're in the Prem!!!!

Re: James Garner

If Forest gain promotion, it would suit both parties to extend the loan to another year.

Don't think Man U will be dropping a player with no Premier league experience straight int their first team. Their manager will be under pressure for immediate results rather than long term rebuilds.

Re: James Garner

If they don't sign midfielders then Garner will be involved for them, but there is no way they don't go into next season not spending a fortune on midfielders. The current crop Man U have are pathetic. They will sign Rice or somebody.
