Re: James Garner

Can't see a permanent deal, but another loan should be possible if we get promoted. Though then we're helping develop the player of a direct rival :)

I'm quietly hoping he doesn't fit in ten Hag's plans...

supposedly ten Haags top demand is for them to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, that would push Garner further down the pecking order there, I don't think a transfer would be totally out of the question but I guess it depends on how highly the Man United folks rate him in the end

Garner is a quality footballer, and clearly loving his time at Forest. I read, prior to him re-signing, some views from his old man who was very keen for him to come to Forest as well. That's surely a good thing to have a level headed influence.

However, despite being as good as he is. He won't be a regular at Utd. Not even close. That'll rule out any of the other cartel clubs buying him. Blood money Newcastle will have their eyes on more flashy signings which leaves the also ran Premier League clubs looking at him. My guess is, within a year or so he'll be at West Ham, Villa, Leicester or Wolves.

If, and a big if, we get promoted there's no reason we can't sign him on a more permanent basis. It'll cost though ..

He's highly regarded amongst coaching staff at United, specifically Carrick who has worked with him a lot and even players like Fernandes who recently said he's the player he most looked forward to playing alongside

Ten Hag (who likes to utilize young and hungry players) clearly has been keeping an eye on Garners performances too as he's already stated he plans to have a good look at him pre season, not sure where he'd be on the pecking order post summer business but if there's ever a coach who wouldn't be against giving him game time it would be someone like Ten Hag

One thing I do know is that if he does decide he wants to leave his price tag will be hefty

It won't happen yet, United aren't daft. They'll take a good look at him. Few years' time he'll be in and out the team at Everton. This kid needs regular football, he won't get it at United - no matter how highly he's regarded hitherto.

Man Utd can't afford another season or two of mediocrity. Ten Hag will get given a large budget to address their issues and he would be a brave man to choose to go with James Garner in such a crucial position.

I voted for Jimmy as player of the season in the poll above.

Felt he deserved it most after Yates, Worrall, Spence and Johnson who all got their individual awards already.

I know there are massive expectations at United. Especially after the dull years now.

But I can't see them giving it to ten Hag if they expecting immediate trophies.

Coming from Ajax and working with Bayern II I suspect he will take a look at all their young players & see if they fit in his ideal team which he hopes will be complete in the next 18-24 months?

Him and Yates have ran themselves into the ground last couple of games. Seem to be outnumbered but they are still doing the business in both halves.

He has 2 games to turn himself from a hugely influential and popular loanee into a minor club legend.

Go for it young man! You've earned that accolade, go out and win it.

They say never fall in love with loan players but these lads have made it extremely difficult not to.

I was sad after yesterday's game, thinking it would possibly be the last time I'd see Djed, Zincks and Garner in the flesh.

I said exactly the same thing to Tiff during the match. :(

As much as I can’t wait for our promotion, it’s laced with a little sadness that the team as we know it will inevitably come to an end.

However, this has been the most amazing season and will always be remembered with much love pride.

There will be tears next week, for sure.

It won't be, if we go up automatically we will almost certainly sign a few. If we don't then it means we will have playoff games to go to.

It is sad though, like others say I don't want this season to end.

Maybe Figgy and Davies and Grabban have gone too. It's incredible that we don't want this season to end.

Re: James Garner

The five loanees in categories:

The one who will be missed the most (if he leaves): Garner or Spence (I can't decide)
The one who will be missed less: Lowe
The one who is most likely to remain at the club: Zinckernagel
The one who is less likely to remain at the club: Spence
The one who surprised the most with his performance: Davis

Re: James Garner

Garner is the least attainable, Boro have already put a price on Spence for him to go. There is a very small chance that he even ends up here next season in this league if things don't go well in the market for Boro as a selling club, as they will want to develop the own guy they have in that position who they seem to like more.

Garner will not be in the Championship next season.

Lowe, Zinc & Davis are all realistic signings at this level.

Re: James Garner

Accounting for restructured current wages, and added to new wages, I'd guess the transfer budget if we get promoted to be £30-40m.

I think the numbers estimated for Spence (£15-20m) are likely close to what Boro' will want but this is highly likely to be structured over 2-3 years, and in line with amortisation. Garner is likely to be £10-12m and on similar terms, and with some other add-ons related to his progression e.g. internationals etc.

In effect, you could sign both and still only have spent less than half the season budget. You got to believe both would retain value if we get relegated as I assume they might also want a relegation clause.

Pretty sure Boro will want a deal for Spence that's majority cash up front, they've already been over spending and Wilder will want to spend more (as always)

Absolute top draw yesterday. I know he had been for majority of this season. But yesterday he looked different gravy. Don't think I saw him waste a ball.
