Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Worth remembering that Chris Woods 15mil fee falls under this window as well.

I did think out loud that our forecast of 12-17m loss for this year (so 17m then) by the club to the commission would mean that we have to sell, and sell one of the jewels at that to get the ship back on course. I'm assuming Brennans sale was included within that forecast because had it not been then we essentially went to the commission offering up his sale under two different financial windows (22/23, but if they didn't accept that as mitigation then its 23/24)

Prediction, Murillo leaves for 45mil in early June whether we stay up or not
Except - if we were to be relegated - our negotiating position drops off a cliff & player valuations follow.
The vultures are already circling.

I disagree.

If this is all about financial prudence, then waiting a few weeks to realise £45m rather than £30m is an absolute no-brainer.

Which then means that there's an argument that the spirit of financial prudence was well and truly followed by us.

I know what I'd have done if it was my money.
We didn’t think we needed to sell BJ to meet the 2022/23 figures.
We wrongly assumed that over £32m of COVID & promotion bonus’s were exempt from our accounts. We were informed by the EPL in June that they had rejected this.
This left us with 4 weeks to find £30m + to fill the gap.
This is when we had to sell BJ - but quite rightly - we refused to give him away.
The numbers and dates are all there in the report

Everton's hearing will be held over 3 days next week the 25th/26th/27th March, that suggests their case is more complicated than ours
A Repeat Offence would go down as an aggravating factor, Double Jeopardy IMO wouldn't stick as it is a 3 year rolling period. 3pts the entry point, 2/3 for the breach, Plus 1 for aggravating factor, 1 taken away for early plea like us, so I reckon 5/6 points deducted

Everton fans seem to have the idea that it is a double punishment.
When the reality is the charge they got this season should have been put in place last season as it was for a breach in 21/22.
I believe their accounts were late and they mislead the league on key bits of information and that is why teams that got relegated last year were threatening legal action.
So, this charge is completely new and is for the year 22/23. Everton can not combine the 2 charges and cry foul as they are completely separate.
If it qualifies as another “serious breach” you can imagine it will be another hefty points deduction.
We need to appeal when it is we can appeal. How is it allowable that a ruling can be made that could be directly pertinent to whether we would appeal or not after we have the right to appeal.

Someone posted an excerpt from our ruling which categorically stated a second offence was worse than an initial one so if Everton get anything less than 4 points we need to appeal. Except we can't unless we've already appealed. You can't make this shit up.

Such as? Navas hit the ground running In the top league in the world. He had a calmness that comes with being a serial winner. We’d be a fair few points better off if we had him this season, I reckon.
Navas kept us up with his performance in that first game alone against Leeds.
I know it is not that simple but he was brilliant and we would have lost without him.
3 points off us and 3 points to Leeds = relegated

Well the EPL is making this shit up!
According to the Times article, we have to sell Murillo.
Someone on here said £45 million.
Well, if we have to sell, no one will offer anywhere near that.
This whole FFP shenannigans is totally f***ing up football that I used to know and love.
I think the next forest Board Meeting should be in the upstairs rooms at the clinton Arms, and they should vote to go back to playing Shinty.
Because there is no way we will ever be allowed to compete with the established top 6 at football.

As I understand it there's only an option for Lyon to buy Mangala, no obligation

So if they chose not to exercise said option that would mean we'd have to sell him to someone else, or another player

I may be wrong as my head is spinning with all of this shit
We are better off if Lyon don’t buy him.
It means we have had £10m off them for nothing - we just sell him to someone else

We've already used the extra headroom.

This seasons limit is -£83m (£13m + £35m + £35m)

We are already at -£92m before we even consider this season (£40m loss in FY2022, £52m loss in FY2023)

Does selling Johnson/Mangala/Scarpa/Surridge get us from a £52m loss in 2023 to a £9m profit in 2024?
Your numbers are bullshit - do your research before writing please

Think you might be talking about me Captain, and i can reassure you that i was purely speculating on Murillo and the figure of 45mil. And when i say speculating, i mean talking complete and utter rubbish which is a specialty of mine.

Are they?

The report states our loss over the 3 years prior to June 2022 was £95.5m (£34.5m over the £61m threshold)

That was made up from a loss of £40m in 2022 & £52m in 2023, both of which will roll into 2024's assessment.

I believe the powers that be at NFFC were amazed that the starting point for us was 8 points -1 less than what you'd get for insolvency - which is obviously much more serious. The PL are run by idiots...........but useful idiots for the top 6...
I think 8 points is ludicrous-I also think the Everton sanction of 6 was too high as well (even
after the appeal).

I see that the papers used up the whole gambit of two-word Forest related headlines today. The only one missing was 'Forest f**ked!'

I remember reading a season preview magazine back in the 90's for the season we got relegated, and in that was a section on each team with "most likely headlines to see this season". A lot of these featured :ROFLMAO:

Good to know the press have evolved so much in almost 30-odd years :ROFLMAO:

Are we sure about Wood?
I don’t know but wasn’t the deal done very early in the window because Newcastle wanted it in their 22/23 accounts - I honestly can’t remember
