Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Last time I checked this thread was about midday on Monday! Here's my take:

We've been foolish with our spending and we've made some dud signings, however it's very easy to be critical of the club with the benefit of hindsight. I've seen the statistic referring to the squad being worth £12 million on promotion, the closest club to us in terms of worth was Bournemouth at £151 million. We had to make the step up and we had to spend.

We could have had a better approach to signings, we could have looked at the Brighton model, but the cost of a Premier League squad has moved on to such an extent, that it's extremely difficult to compete without spending big; Sheff United and Burnley have been struggling all season because of lack of investment, Ipswich will be in the exact same situation next season if promoted.

I have been critical of Marinakis, I think he needs to lower his expectations, but I will never criticise him for showing ambition and having the balls to give it a go in the Premier League. This season has been tricky, it was a shame it came to an end with Cooper and we sometimes don't feel any further forward with Nuno, however the statement from the club in response to the points deduction was absolutely fantastic.

There'll be criticism from our own fans, other clubs will call us cheats, but the bigger picture for football is that the big wigs want to protect the bigger clubs at all costs... Newcastle cannot even break the cartel. Marinakis dared to take them on and I respect that, even though he does sometimes act like a kid in a sweet shop. Someone at the club needs to advise him that an appeal is too risky, particularly given that our statement was 'two fingers' to the Premier League.

It's siege mentality... back Nuno, back Marinakis, get the displays, boo the PL anthem, tell Richard Masters to f**k off... this isn't playing the victim card, this is standing up to save football. BRING IT ON
The depressing thing that despite our massive spending we are only a handful of points above Burnley and Sheffield United and before the deduction, Luton, despite them spending a pittance in comparison. I think this is what other clubs find so hilarious. Where has that £200 million/44 signings got us?!☹️

Burnley have spent well over £100m since getting promoted.
Sheffield utd - very little - that is why they are going back down.

If you read the report you will note that our breach is because of our last season in the efl where we lost circa £50m
Last season wasn’t the problem

I meant Luton rather than the other 2.

There is a reason why Marinakis is fuming and quite rightly so

20.9m in Promotion Bonuses were allowed to be included in the EFL. Forest were told less than a month before the deadline that they can't allow Promotion Bonuses to be included in the PL Accounts.
9.7m of Covid Allowance were never disallowed by EFL but were disallowed in the PL.
So if those things that should have been allowed our breach would have been 3.9m over the limit.
Which would've have mean't a quick small sale would have seen us in line with the rules.

So that explains the high losses in the promotion season. Simon Jordan brought that up whilst talking to a forest fan on talkshite. He failed to mention it was anything to do with promotion bonuses and made it sound like Forest were reckless in the championship.

It really annoys me how many so-called journalists and presenters fail to do proper research.

If we had got relegated last season, would this have meant we'd have been charged by the EFL?

Agreed, they only speak of that which suits their own agenda, always ignore the full facts and show's the club in poor light to the general listening public which in turn can mislead everyone's true understanding of how we have arrived in this situation

I mentioned this earlier on a different forum - not sure how the epl can overrule a an efl ruling when they have no jurisdiction in that league

To add to that - epl only informed us of their decision to overrule in early June - meaning we only had 4 weeks to find 30m - that is when we started Hawking BJ around and our mates at Brentford were aware of this and only offered the shortfall.

Rumour has it that the epl were not going to charge us because of this - however other clubs led by Brentford insisted on it.

Someone at the epl broke confidentiality rules on our accounts - which should not be in the public domain until they are signed off and submitted to company house. They are the rules of the land
EM has every right to be fuming.

For every year you add on - one comes off the other end
You don’t just keep adding them up 😁
I haven’t. Let me show my workings more fully:

FY 23 PSR calculation
FY21 - £3m
FY22 - £40
FY23 - £52
Total - £95m
Limit -£61m
Excess - £34

FY24 PSR calculation (projected)

FY22 - £40m
FY23 - £52m
FY24 - £17m (projected)
Total - £109m
Limit - £83m
Excess - £26m

FY21 drops out, FY24 comes in.

See that’s a real shame because now I don’t like plucky Brentford.

Interesting.. if true it does make sense why EM is raging...

Getting a bit tired of the Everton fans whining now and that they can't seem to understand our actual losses are 30 million less than there's. our breach is higher but not losses. I get the rules are rules jibe but we do have every reason to be annoyed at not being allowed to financially compete.. I thought the PL and 1st IC called out there dodgy books? I mean there COVID losses where a joke.

The fella on talk sport earlier today annoyed me when he commented the rules where not meant to mean a fair playing field (or words to that effect). No f***ing shit Sherlock although I thought they where.once called FFP (financial FAIR play) or did i dream that?

We have our punishment and I just hope it galvanises the team and we start picking up points.

are we sure someone broke confidentiality rules though? Brentford see Forest as rivals, they’ve done their homework to cause as much shit as possible.. there’s no chance BJ would’ve gone… to f***ing Brentford 😂

Just bretshit trying to take every possible advantage, karma is a f***er.. they’ll get it
