Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Oh I know we signed a few stinkers but Navas and Felipe kept us up IMO.

Wood has turned into a good signing and Danilo should hopefully keep improving.

4/7 good signings is decent for any club nevermind a club who signs players for the sake of it at times.

It would’ve been great not to sign Shelvey but we’re not perfect (far from it)
Ayew and Scarpa cost only wages and we got £5m for scarpa - so not all bad

Rather than selling Murillo and to prove we’re taking this FFP seriously I vote for selling worrall to oly for £150m. If they can make it up as they go along why can’t we! We could probably also offload Vlach to that portugeese club for £60m and maybe a cheeky bid for harry kane as Ts back up.
I honestly feel sorry for Everton fans having to go through this shite twice.

To those who condone the owner’s actions -

would you support another similar action to breach financial rules in a future year?
Not me. But comparing what was left of the promotion squad to what we've got now is night and day.

There's only one time you get promoted after 23 years out of it, while everyone else has had years of being able to spend whatever their owner could afford before they changed the rules to exclude clubs like ours, plus their EPL payments, plus their parachute payments, plus their broadcasting revenue.

IMO being in the EPL with 4 points docked is better than Rotherham away on a Tuesday night and the other 45 piles of dross that go with being in the Championship.

Obviously we'll never all agree either way.

The report (at 12.92) states that the current projection for 2023/24 is a loss of £12-17m. But, it is not clear if that is a PRS loss (ie after allowable deductions) or operating loss. Nor is it clear if that projection assumes Mangala is sold.

Anyway, if that is a PRS loss and already includes profit on assumed sale of Manga, we would still be in breach by about £25m. (Losses of £40m + £52 + £16m = £108m against limit of £83m). That would mean needing to realise a further £25m profit (not fees) in player sales by 30 June.

This is at odds with the statement later in the report that Forest are operating well within PRS limits in the current season. So who knows really!

However, our business model/PRS rules require us to buy players young and fairly cheap and sell on at a profit. So it should be no surprise to see our top players being sold every summer. It’s just a sad reality of elite football.
For every year you add on - one comes off the other end
You don’t just keep adding them up 😁

Are they?

The report states our loss over the 3 years prior to June 2022 was £95.5m (£34.5m over the £61m threshold)

That was made up from a loss of £40m in 2022 & £52m in 2023, both of which will roll into 2024's assessment.

Someone is just adding on new years without dropping years off the other end 😭

There does appear to have been a shift recently in the football model overall.

Once upon a time top clubs never sold to each other.

But now, they also have to manage FFP (at a different level) by selling to each other. Also to avoid selling best assets abroad to revenue competitors.

Lower down the league, clubs have to sell upwards - as always happened - or across to Europe and other leagues.

Some clubs got this earlier than others. Brighton are the poster boys for this. So it can be done with a 30k stadium and little corporate revenue. But its needs patience and belief in the model.

I spent a lot of time sailing in Plymouth in my younger years - used to enjoy Home Park.
Unfortunately they are slipping down the league quite quickly.
We might miss out on those pasties
I think they’ll stay up though-and I think Forest could do.
I’m sure we’ll cross swords with the Pilgrims again at some point.

Ah, so your reading was bullshit. ;)

To be fair, there's not much to drop off from the 20/21 average.

Those defending the actions of the board have a very strong vibe of abused partner.

'Yes I know he pissed away the mortgage money on a huge bag of coke and a prostitute, but he did take me on a nice holiday in 2018, and hes not as bad as my ex''
The financial director also warned the board and they went on regardless that is piss piss poor by the ownership. I dont know how anyones first reaction is anger at the premier league. It is beyond me.....

Last time I checked this thread was about midday on Monday! Here's my take:

We've been foolish with our spending and we've made some dud signings, however it's very easy to be critical of the club with the benefit of hindsight. I've seen the statistic referring to the squad being worth £12 million on promotion, the closest club to us in terms of worth was Bournemouth at £151 million. We had to make the step up and we had to spend.

We could have had a better approach to signings, we could have looked at the Brighton model, but the cost of a Premier League squad has moved on to such an extent, that it's extremely difficult to compete without spending big; Sheff United and Burnley have been struggling all season because of lack of investment, Ipswich will be in the exact same situation next season if promoted.

I have been critical of Marinakis, I think he needs to lower his expectations, but I will never criticise him for showing ambition and having the balls to give it a go in the Premier League. This season has been tricky, it was a shame it came to an end with Cooper and we sometimes don't feel any further forward with Nuno, however the statement from the club in response to the points deduction was absolutely fantastic.

There'll be criticism from our own fans, other clubs will call us cheats, but the bigger picture for football is that the big wigs want to protect the bigger clubs at all costs... Newcastle cannot even break the cartel. Marinakis dared to take them on and I respect that, even though he does sometimes act like a kid in a sweet shop. Someone at the club needs to advise him that an appeal is too risky, particularly given that our statement was 'two fingers' to the Premier League.

It's siege mentality... back Nuno, back Marinakis, get the displays, boo the PL anthem, tell Richard Masters to f**k off... this isn't playing the victim card, this is standing up to save football. BRING IT ON

Ah yes, the knight's in shining armour coming to save football...

.... through buying Jonjo Shelvey, Andre Ayew and Jesse Lingard.

How noble of us.

Am I supposed to believe that there have been more meetings of the Fan Advisory Board (2) than there have been meetings of the Nottingham Forest Football Club Board (0 if the text in the Judgement is to be believed) in the last 2 years?

Did the previous chairman step aside or was he fired?
