Ethan Shea Horvath

Carvs was on the edge of the wall until he bizarrely knelt down behind it (I think it was at Horvath's request),

Lots of teams now do that thing where a players lies down at the back of the wall. Seems to be the latest fashion.
It's because of the quality of free kick takers nowdays at the top level. They are able to put it under the jumping wall with precision if they wish. I stress top level though, I don't think there is that requirement in the Championship, it's probably the last time we'll see Horvath utilise that. Lesson learned.

Like so many things in the game, us great thinkers always supposed that if the wall jumped up as a matter of course, the logical thing would be to put it underneath them.

Like terrorists, you only have to do something a few times and you cause so much consternation that precautionary measures are taken even when there is no threat.

I thought he would be criticised for the goal seeing as it was quite similar to the 2nd Coventry goal

He wasn't lying down behind the whole wall, he was kneeling behind one end of the wall as if he was about to be knighted - very odd.

Where is Emo to tell us it was poor goalkeeping? Or does he only chose to highlight Samba?

Horvath v Samba... close one to call!
Horvath is well regarded and made a few decent saves last night, but it was his first game.
Also in front of him was the single yougest back 4 ever to feature in a Forest game.
Samba will obviously get the nod for a few games, but he needs to demonstrate he is in control of his game and able to concentrate for the full 90.
And if he does falter, or get injured, Horvath will need to prove he is up to it against some ruthless attacks and a few notches up on the pressure gauge.
I thought he looked decent yesterday.
Then again I aways think Jordan Smith is decent whenever I have seen him play.
Maybe I am just a bad judge of character!

Sambas a decent keeper but it must have been difficult not to become complacent with no one knocking on the door behind him.

This bloke looks the sort who'll want to play, that has to be good for Samba & the club.

He probably didn't expect Cafu on the end of the wall to for some reason duck and try to get his boot up 7ft rather than actually jump to head it.

I don't think he even needed to jump, in fact looking at the video, with the ball going over his foot Cafu appeared to duck out of the way of the ball.

Having watched the replay several times, I have come to the conclusion that his entire body movement was actually physically impossible. If one of my players glitched that badly on FIFA, I'd be pissed.

I'll be messaging the devs about this on Twitter. Such unnatural glitches shouldn't be occurring with the game engines available to us in 2021.

To be fair, it was a great free kick.

As for Horvath, I liked what I saw. It’s about time we had a decent alternative to Samba.

Horvath kept us in the game more than a few times.

Don’t get me wrong, Samba is a great keeper at this level but Smith never really challenged him for a first team start. Horvath however…………. provides us with options.

Hughton wants competition for places.
After 2 below par performances Hughton needs to show he means what he says.
So change the keeper on Wednesday.

I'd be tempted to start him against Derby. I'm a big fan of Samba but he's been a bit shaky lately, and Horvath will be eager to impress after being called up to his national side.

Doubt Hughton has the balls to make that call though.

I think it’s a no brainer for me, Horvath has been the better keeper recently.

Maybe after the international break sounds more likely.

Probably won't happen until a change of manager, whenever that will be. Or Samba getting injured/suspended. Hughton doesn't like change unless it's forced upon him.

Named in our 26 man World Cup Qualifiers squad.

If we need another left back, George Bello is his name.

Somehow that old twat Tim Ream still gets a Call up

I really like Bello. Going to be a good one.
Ream is a strange pick but it wouldn't be a Berhalter side without at least 1 WTF selection. Eleven Yanks on twitter said that Ream is there because Bayern didn't want to release Chris Richards for this round because they're loaning or selling him and didn't want to risk injury. Personally, I think it's just one of those Berhalter head scratchers.

To fight for survival you need reliability in goal. And I don't think Samba is the one.
Let's give Horvath a chance.

We say this about reliability and Hovarth being the better keeper - but he’s just conceded 4 goals in a single game.

I’m not having a pop at him, but I’d say it’s a stretch to say he’s been better than Samba.
