England team to face France at Euro's

Can't believe how many people are going for Walker over Richards at right-back. Richards has been the best English player in the Prem this season, for me.

Better than Rooney? Micah should definitely be in the squad but I think whether he or Walker plays should be a tactical decision based on the opposition.

Micah is the better defender and brings extra height, Walkers better going forward in my opinion.

Odd to be in a situation where we probably have more depth at Right Back than any other position in the Squad with Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Danny Simpson, Chris Smalling all capable of playing there.

Yeah I know I'll get stick for Carroll, but I reckon in a really fluid team with a clever player behind him in Rooney and wingers who can hit the byline he'd actually be really useful.

Our strikers are seriously lacking. I'd take Rooney, Holt, Crouch, Defoe, Sturridge and that would be my order in which I would select them, so I guess Holt will be starting against France for me, which is a terrifying thought. Don't rate Welbeck or Sturridge much but Sturridge can play in a front 3 as well so he gets my preference.

Parker and Lampard both have 'legs'. Who else is there to go in there though?
Gerrard - Injured all season, no real form.
Carrick - No 'legs' but decent enough on the ball.

And then looking down the list there is erm nobody. I would of liked Wilshire and Rodwell in there, but both have been crocked for most of the season. Im hoping for the WC in a few years we will see a side like
Hart
Walker Richards Jones Gibbs
Cleverly Rodwell Wilshire
Sturridge Rooney Young

Pearce has said he could be naming the squad to go on or around May the 10th unless somthing drastically changes, when does the prem season end again ?

Edit

Prem season ends May 13th, so lets say the FA get someone in, the new Manager is just going to pick the team to go having played no freindlys or training sessions beforehand ?

Hodgson picks the squad 16th May.

This is who i would pick.

Goalkeepers:

Joe Hart, Ben Foster, Scott Carson.

Defenders:

Kyle Walker, Ashley COle, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Micah Richards,
Phil Jones, Leighton Baines.

Midfielders:

Steven Gerrard, Ashley Young, Scott Parker, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard,
Gareth Barry, James Milner, Theo Walcott.

Strikers:

Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Peter Crouch, Danny Welbeck,
Daniel Sturridge.

Picking players based on reputation rather than form is a bad move.

Crouch, Bent, Adam Johnson, James Milner and arguably Wellbeck and Walcott don't deserve a place in the squad.

Sol Campbell made a good point though on English players getting into the squad to easy and not having to work hard enough to get in.

Players such as John Ruddy, Grant Holt, Danny Graham, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tom Cleverly shouldn't be in the squad after just one year in the Prem.

Darren Bent is still injured so I wouldn't risk taking him, especially with Rooney missing for 2 games.
Adam Johnson and James Milner are subs at best for City, they shouldn't be in the squad because they have barely played all season.
Peter Crouch has under performed this season although this will be overshadowed by one wonder goal, His goals / games record for England is good although the teams has has scored against are mostly weak sides. Picking players for an international squad has never worked - Capello took Carragher, Shaun Wright Phillips, Steven Warnock and Emile Heskey to the last WC and they are all clearly 5 years past their best.

I don't personally see why Sinclair shouldn't be taken ahead of Walcott. They are competing at the same level and Sinclair has arguably outclassed Walcott whilst being surrounded by inferior players (than those Walcott plays with).

Grant Holt is the second highest English scorer in the Premier League and deserves to go on that fact alone. Seeing as the other strikers England have that can play as a target man are Heskey, Carroll and Zamora, he needs to go to the Euros in my opinion.

Cleverly is a mediocre midfielder at best and is only near the squad because he has made a couple of sub appearances for Man Utd. If he was at somewhere like Villa and had played an entire season for them then he wouldn't be in with a shout. I assume he only got a call up because Pearce knew him from his time with the U21s. I would take Carrick in midfield as he has probably played the best season of his career this year.

It's all about mid-table...
If Hodgson doesn't play the youngsters, we are coming back on the first flight after the group stages.

He mustn't do what all the previous England managers do, to keep sticking with the failed old guard that keep failing and failing and failing.

Was reading about Leighton Baines supposedly being targeted by Bayern Munich, and stumbled across this: http://www.eplindex.com/4085/leighton-baines-ashley-cole.html

Interesting read, throws up a bit of debate about who should be starting left back, thoughts?

Oh, and my team for France:

Thereafter:

---------Parker--------Lampard--------
---A.Johnson------------------Young---
------------------Rooney----------------
------------------Carroll-----------------

GKs: Hart, Carson, Green

Think everyone is being harsh on Carroll, the only reason he is criticized so much is because of his 35 million price tag which is hardly his fault.

He's actually a good player if you ever watch him play, he was fantastic against Chelsea on Saturday and has been on form recently.

I think Lampard has been very good in his slightly more reserved role this season and for England, he's outperformed Barry easily.

Ive sat down and had a real look at that back 4 and can't believe why i and so many others have overlooked Lescott. He has been part of the best defence in the league this year and far and away has played better than Cahill.

4 Premier league goals all season for a striker that cost £35 million.

He does not deserve a place in the England squad.
