It is a significant hindrance whilst we are in the Championship.2018 commercial revenue (everything outside of tv and matchday receipts):
Leeds 21.7m
Derby 11m
Forest 5.9m
And that's been the pattern for the last decade of figures I looked up. Over 50m less than Derby, well over 100m less than Leeds.
As for the PL no tv money is not some infinite source, we have to be able to compete on all fronts if we want any sort of sustained stay.
Remember Liverpool winning away at Everton and singing '2-0 to the murderers'...

Yep they beat Leeds in the final!
The difference is that both Leeds and Derby have been in the Premier League during to past 2 decades and have received a far higher income from broadcasting rights which allows them to create other revenue streams, which furthers their commercial income.
The catalyst is getting promoted. There's only so much a club will pay for these things untill they are guaranteed broadcasting rights payments/parachute money.

Leeds are a bigger club in terms of worldwide fanbase (shirt sales etc), but it is annoying that we bring in so little commercial revenue compared to Derby.
I've been in favour of moving to a modern ground, but that ship seems to have sailed, at least for a while.
Isnt part of the new PT Stand development commercial?
I do hope if we ever get promoted the Yanks won't bandwagon us because we're a "Niche" club with an interesting history and name.
I feel we've met our yank quota with Thomas.
I’m singlehandedly the best yank on this forum.
Tucson Hooligan is outside, and would like a word.
And beware, he’s usually armed with a machine gun.
He obtained a state owned oil company worth several billion pounds for a fair market sum of money approximating to 1 pound 95 and a half-eaten mars bar.And does anyone know where the owner of Chelski got his money from?
Or how he got it?
And is Chelski nothing but a big laundry?
Is this a euphemism?I’m singlehandedly the best yank on this forum.

More to do with the ineptitude of owner rather than the ground, as I assume that is April 18 and therefore carrys the stench of Fawaz? The new main stand is supposed to be UEFA spec and will probably have the corporate facilities you crave.
I personally prefer a pint and an asbestos cladded roof echoing to the sounds, but I realise I'm outdated.
Nope, first season under EM and that's been the pattern for at least a decade - so for 3 owners...the common denominator is the CG.
I largely agree. The new stand is a start but , for instance, the corporate facilities at Pride Park are providing income for their club between matches whereas an old stadium like the CG is only of use on matchdays.Nope, first season under EM and that's been the pattern for at least a decade - so for 3 owners...the common denominator is the CG.
Yup hopefully the new stand will help but there will be limitations given how much space is available.
Your position is definitely one I sympathise with but that does mean we 5-10m down on budget compared to our rivals, which makes promotion tricky.
Probably difficult to change too much in that regard in the first season when the club was in a mess from top to bottom.
My friend Chunky was a 'shed boy' at Stamford Bridge until we played table tennis with Charlie Cooke just after he signed for Crystal Palace and Charlie got pissed and stood on the only table tennis ball in Teheran.
Chunky was so fed up he vowed never to watch Chelsea again. So he went off to sang in York Cathedral choir.
Those were the days when you had characters on and off the field. Now characters in the game are rarer than hen's teeth.
