city will negotiate a price, james trafford which they just sold to burnley, have a 42m buy back clause i believe
I don’t see a massive benefit. You take a risk on paying £20m for a youngster who has never played above league one. It’s quite likely you don’t get value.

If he does have a storming season or two and looks like being special someone just has him back for double the money when he may be worth far more.

I don’t think it is enough reward for the risk.

Totally agree - there's very little to gain for us this season in signing a young player with no experience who will have a buy back inserted limiting profit in the event of the gamble being a roaring success.

Without a buyback I'd get it, though have huge reservations about the player having a big impact on our season now at that age/experience. It's fanciful.

People on Twitter losing their shit because we haven't signed this guy despite never having heard of him a month ago or seen him play a first team game.

People on Twitter would also be losing their shit if we splashed £15m on a guy that hasn't played a first team game at any level of the professional game.

He could be excellent but he might not be ready either and for £15m West Ham can afford to gamble and maybe loan him out with £100m in the bank from Rice.

Yeah. Plenty of big kids/self proposed experts throwing their dummy out the pram in the player shop window when they’re told they can’t have what they want, even when they don’t know anything about the player, or didn’t a couple of weeks ago.

These buy-back deals are another Chelsea / City level con along with 8 year deals and signing the Under 5’s.

It’s been going on in Spain at Real and Barca for a very long time. We are now seeing it more in England as these clubs have been farming youth players with very little intention of them ever playing for the club

It's all part of the craving for instant self-gratification RB. Because they can acquire stuff easily with a few clicks on their phone the same should apply with their football team.

That's a great move for young Carlos. Not many better places to learn your trade as a promising footballer.

Having to choose between Ajax and West Ham? I bet he had to think long and hard about that.
Yep, can't blame him to snubbing West Ham for Ajax either. Great city, huge club, will win silverware, European competition and a club with a superb reputation for developing players. As a promising young player, it ticks all the boxes really.

Talksport must be frantically trying to find an angle on this one.

"Its only abaaaat money, thats why hes gone there, hes greedy" (Offered the same or less by Ajax - cancel the fake Euros with his face on to hilariously throw around).

"Es turned dahn European football, es got no ambition" (He'll be playing Europa league football with a side that could possibly win it with Ajax who have won more than West Ham will ever win)

Good luck to him, more so because he's turned down the appy ammers who are quite spectacularly losing their shit with the club. Its a bad mix because they're clamouring to spend the Rice money and you can see them getting properly bent over now trying to buy a "name" for high cost on deadline day to make up for it.

Seems steep. But Ajax is probably a good path for him at this stage in his career. Goes to a respected european club who have a history of developing players. The Dutch league is a step up from where he has played competitively but doesn’t see him thrust in to premier league season, he will get european football under his belt.

I agree with this being a better move for the lad in terms of development. I still wouldn't have wanted us to spend that kind of cash while being restricted to 'only' being able to double our money should it be a raging success (due to a buyback).

Edit: unless Ajax paid more to remove that?
