Having seen them play twice in Nottingham previously, I've not seen them live since they played the Granby Halls at Leicester in 1975, and right at the top of their game Cloughie, but I'm told that their current support musicians are top-notch, and although his exertions of the past are understandably much subdued, Townsend still plays as well as ever, with his trademark windmilling in abundance. Unsurprisingly however, Daltrey's voice was described to me as - to be polite - "as dodgy as f***".
I have only seen them once that was November'71 at the Finsbury Park Astoria(Rainbow). Great concert and we missed the last train back so ended sleeping on the station!

Otis Redding

Try A Little Tenderness
Otis, The Who are probably my favourite band of all time and I was at Granby Halls in 75 and the gig nearly didn't happen because a gentleman named Keith Moon was arrested the day before at Prestwick airport for being involved in an "incident". That show was the first time lasers were used and just before they played Behind Blue Eyes Keith said he had to disappear for a few minutes to see his probation officer. I saw them 6 times the first being at the Isle of Wight in 1970 and I was also at Trentham Gardens in 1973 when they performed Quadrophenia for the first time and it was a wonderful disaster as the backing tapes started before the band or not at all. Great band. I wouldn't have gone on Friday night were it free. The Who with an orchestra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No I won't get fooled again
Something that still stands out to me from that Granby Halls show Duncan (beside the fact that they were fantasic on the night) was Daltrey wearing a T-shirt with "George Davis is Innocent" prominently emblazoned across the front, much to the bemusement of most of us in the audience (for those on here who may be unaware, the significance of the message became apparent weeks later when in protest at Davis being "wrongly" convicted for armed-robbery, his supporters destroyed the wicket overnight at Headingley, forcing the ongoing Ashes Test to be abandoned).

You've experienced them live far more than me as I'd previously only seen them at The Dungeon in town 10-years earlier, and later in 1970 in the main hall in the Portland building at Nottingham University (the same tour from which The Who Live At Leeds album emerged), which was basically the group's Woodstock set.

I fully agree with your objection to the orchestra by the way.

Has he left the building yet? Any building, in Nottingham or London, getting concerned, should we be calling the rescue services?

Really embarrassing for Nat that. Lost any sort of credibility, well what was left of it anyway.

I'm not saying this after the fact but I never thought Willian fitted our style well. I completely undersatnd we can change the style but without further signings I don't know how Cooper makes a more posession based side playing in the opponents half. We have Yates in midfield we are never going to be a posession based side with him. Not having a go at Yates just players suit certain styles.

Shame, would have given us a short-term option on left who can also play several positions. Age, salary may caused issues. We move on and think this evidences that Fabrizio really is the man ITK-as he went against all the other journo, BBC etc so say the info was not correct.

I agree, I was concerned we'd be throwing the baby out with the bathwater if we tried to change our playing style too much too quickly. We need pace up front.
