Just to bring things back to the thread title.

We're in it! Bloody in it for next season! How great is that.

I'm still in shock.

Well, I have to say, you are not alone in that.

The Jonny depp case that has recently ended has just reminded me about Mason Greenwood and another person who plays for a premiership team (who can’t be named for legal reasons) Point is are the accusers the bigger problem than these 2 ? Obviously I’m not saying they are, I have no proof, it’s just a thought

Man united and the other premiership team could possibly end up with having egg on there faces like Disney did with Depp.

Nice bit of speculative victim-blaming with no proof there. A grown man is arrested for having sex with a 15yo and you’re asking if she is the problem. Have a word mate.

I know Liverpool do recruit well but am I missing something with this Darwin Nunez?

They are paying £100m for him, seems massively overpriced. He only got 6 goals last season!

It looks more like a Man Utd signing than a Liverpool one.
He got 6 in the champions league alone. He was prolific in the domestic league but this might be a case of slightly inflated cost because he played well against them.

Your right my bad. as of yet no concrete evidence has been presented to press charges on him though.

Bale has called on Fifa to protect player welfare.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61763101

This comes after he a particularly hectic season for Bale where he was forced to cram 5 games into a 9 month period. He states 'with the constant churn of games, I've had to sacrifice the things I love. My handicap has suffered too.'

I thought you was joking at first, but then I looked at last seasons stats and he literally played 5 games.

I'm more than happy to reduce the amount of games in yournements such as the CL, the WC, the EC & that nations league bag of bollocks

Need to reduce wages as well though

That ok with you Gaz?

Still seems a ridiclously high amount of money for somebody in the Portugese league.

He is not a kid either, will be 23 in a few weeks. Not old but considering last season was his real breakout season, that is a riduclous amount of money.

Watch me be proved wrong now and he bags 30 in his first season.

I'm not disagreeing with you in that he seems over priced, just noting the stats. If Liverpool lose Salah and mane, they'll need the next best.

As you say, probably go on to be a legend of the game but I did see a video of the ball bouncing off him like he was wearing two lead shoes but you never know.

Man City complete the signing of Erling Haaland.

His record at Dortmund is exceptional. He's going to be one of the best players of his generation - can't wait for Forest to take him on.

Agreed. I’ve seen a fair bit of young Haaland, and he’s got all the tools to be an absolute all-time great.

At what point to they put a cap on American owners. It's becoming a monopoly & they will vote for a closed shop. Won't be long before they are pestering Marinakis about us as well.

Seems like there's an arms race at the top.

Halaand might take time to adapt his game but, once he does under Pep's tutelage, he will (obviously) go on to post big numbers with the support artillery in and around him. And the scum, with Nunez in and Salah staying, are going to do some real damage next season.

They are losing Mane. I think he is underrated by their fan base and probably everybody. For me he has always been better than Salah and is way more of a team player than him.

They will be a worse side without him whoever they bring in to replace him

A certain team not too far from me *spit* Bayern *spit* have identified him as their #1 target and will do the deal to get him to München.

Not seen much of Haaland but all the hype should surely be tempered a little bit by the fact that the defending in Germany is schoolboy level?

Having said that, I’m pretty sure I could bag at least 15 a season in that City team. They’ll create about 8 chances a game for him.

Hope Nunez flops obviously.

I would refer you to young Haaland´s record in European football; 27 goals in 25 appearances, and his international record of 20 goals in 21 appearances for Norway, so regardless of what one may consider the standard of Bundesliga defending, I am absolutely confident this young man is the real deal, having seen quite a bit of him playing over the last couple of seasons.

Really looking forward to seeing what he does in the PL. especially as you say at City, as their chance-creation stats are prolific, and they haven't had a proper centre-forward since Aguerooooooooo!!

Haaland is physically dominant as well as skillful. He'll score a shit ton in the PL.

Honestly, he's a frightening talent. I'm glad he's chosen to come to England.

I see him as a modern day Drogba, and expect him to be just as successful. Especially with the sort of service he'll get at City.

Only three of those international goals are against top 20 nations though and only 1 against a top 10 country. Half of them are against pap like Gibraltar, Armenia, Luxembourg and Latvia.

Can’t be arsed to look at his European record cos it’s not right there on his wiki….

I’m not saying he’s not good, but the real test starts now. If he scores a goal a game in England, then fair enough.

It reminds me of when he first signed for Dortmund from RB Salzburg in the January window, and many in the media wrote him off before his first match, saying he was unskilled, purely a physical battering ram and didn’t have the technique.

He made his debut for BVB against FC Augsburg, coming off the bench early in the second half, and in what remained of that game, scored a hat-trick in 23 minutes.

Sufficient to say, humble pie was on the menu in large quantities after that match.

Yeah but the Augsburg centre-halves were probably stood on the halfway line with the full-backs in the oppo box at the time

Personally I think he will be the best striker in the world, potentially for the next decade.
