I'm pleased to see that my sponsorship of this thread has been reinstated

It had to be done Edward; when the original thread (and in truth, much of the „Football Banter“ sub forum) went to „live on a farm“, it was only fair.

So it's looking like Liverpool are going to be signing Nunez for £85m from Benfica. That will mean they've signed the 4th most expensive EPL player of all time, the 2nd most expensive defender of all time and the 2nd most expensive GK of all time

Not bad for a team that gets applauded for 'working on a tight budget'

Makes me laugh how Liverpool as seen as paupers (comparatively speaking) and that Klopp is working miracles. Don't get me wrong, Klopp has done a good job there but he has spent a shitload of money to do so.

I think you'll find it was the Chelsea fans that made him spend all that money.

They only get that label because they spend their money wisely. The big ticket buys are all good value.

Luis Diaz looks mustard and they’ll get 35m for Mane who couldn’t finish his dinner.

They spend shitloads but they spend it well.

Unfortunately.

It is slightly funny that supporting Forest in the Prem will be significantly cheaper than supporting Forest in the Championship.

The Jonny depp case that has recently ended has just reminded me about Mason Greenwood and another person who plays for a premiership team (who can’t be named for legal reasons) Point is are the accusers the bigger problem than these 2 ? Obviously I’m not saying they are, I have no proof, it’s just a thought

Man united and the other premiership team could possibly end up with having egg on there faces like Disney did with Depp.

Without expanding on details (there's an alleged recording of greenwood) the accusers are not the problem 99 percent of the time (Ched Evans case being an exception).

It’s fair to say that everyone and his dog has heard the Greenwood recordings by now.

It’s absolutely not a good look, and has seen him damned in the court of public opinion, which is why he’s pretty much become an unperson for his club.

And - disclaimer - If the recordings are accurate, then he absolutely deserves everything that is coming to him. There is simply no excuse for such despicable behaviour.

This is not really the place for this comparison. I didn't watch the video but based on the title saying he's insulting amber heard and not actively trying to rape her, then I would say yes. Not comparable.

Just to bring things back to the thread title.

We're in it! Bloody in it for next season! How great is that.

I'm still in shock.

I know Liverpool do recruit well but am I missing something with this Darwin Nunez?

They are paying £100m for him, seems massively overpriced. He only got 6 goals last season!

It looks more like a Man Utd signing than a Liverpool one.

Benfica have an incredible record when it comes to flogging their assets, they've sold well over £1 billion worth of players in the past 10 years (not including this ~£100m transfer)

Every year they seem to pop up with 1-2 players that go for 60+ million, it's quite impressive
