I can't even remember who our manager was who got him back into shape and playing well - iirc he had a (couple of?) good season after too for Cardiff?

In fairness to Tomlin, injuries will have played a part too - pretty demoralising to go through rehab to break down again with something different over and over.

But yeah, he had top level talent at his best, which wasn't very often in the grand scheme of his career.
It was Karanka, he got a lot out of him at Boro too

After the disappointment of the FA Cup and a few games postponed, the Linnets have slipped down Vanarama North, but have now started a climb back to the top (hopefully!). Only four points off with four games in hand on the leaders.

welcome to wrexham released, so far the first two episodes. I guess it’s on Disney+ on your side of the pond.

enjoyed it so far.

Just finished watching this series. A good watch especially as I didn’t want them to get promoted mainly because of their desire to rejoin the English football league while hating the English.

The Linnets are now second in National North after a win against Boston on Sunday, despite having a man sent off. Interesting point is that Boston had a Starbuck and a Solanke in their team, whilst we had a Walker and Oxlade-Chamberlain in ours.

Boston manager Paul Bastock cleans my windows 🙂

One of County or Wrexham are not going to go up with 100+ points, that league is brutal.

@valspoodle whathappened with the Linnets?

Have you listened to his podcast, I bought a football club?
Game postponed because of frost/icy pitch, but only 50 minutes before kick off.

I listened to one ages ago when we were in a bit of financial trouble due to covid, but not regularly. I just don't really do podcasts. I get most of my info from local news and the internet various sources. It's very hit and miss.

He's a good guy, been there for some time now and has really energised things.

It's nip and tuck at the top of National North now, AFC Fylde and ourselves top by a point with 23 matches played and our nearest rivals are a point behind at least having played two or three games more.

Sunday League football in Nottinghamshire seems to have gone rather down hill since my day:

On what planet is this sort of behaviour anywhere near acceptable?

It's not acceptable but can you imagine the scene after the victim complains to the ref.

I often had a forward in my pocket when I played at Centre Half, but never had one wrapped around my finger..

Did not Andoni Goikoetxea, the Butcher of Bilbao, also do this (at least) once?

Slightly off-topic, but I don't know where Talksport obtained that image of a "Nottinghamshire Sunday League" ground from in Redemption's post above. I never experienced those facilities when I played in that competition many years ago. The pitches used to regularly be a 10-minute f***ing walk walk from the dressing-rooms. As for spectator cover, dug-outs and floodlights, don't make me laugh.

It was more a case of trying to avoid the dogshit on the pitches at Bulwell Hall Park and Melbourne Park in Aspley.

Fair play to County - leading solihull Moors. If it stays that was they're 3 points heads of second placed Wrexham who have two games in hand.

The Linnets have had a bit of a blip in the last few games, but got back on track last might, to remain second in National North, one point behind AFC Fylde who are coming with a bit of a run, though they, too, dropped a couple of points last game.

All to play for. What with Forest fighting at the bottom of our League and the Linnets at the top of theirs, this season is shredding my nerves!

Incidentally, with the next thread for me to read being the "Away End", I report that on Tuesday the 7th Feb, King's Lynn played at Spennymoor and 24 hardy fans travelled up for the game.

Linnets away to their closest challengers at the top of National North managed to draw 3-3 after being 3-1 down at half time.

So we stay top courtesy of goal difference, with our closest challengers 5 points adrift and having played a game more, so it looks as if it's between those two for autos.

Tight at the top!

Wrexham to play in $1m soccer ball game with owners making the team

They are playing Man United in pre-season tour in America as well.

Fair play to the Wrexham owners, they are really using their profile to bring money into the club. Would love to see their revenues compared to others around them now. Must be huge.

I know the profile of the people helps, but other clubs should really take note how good documentaries/series can be for a clubs profile. I would have loved to have seen Forest do one this season, or at any point.
