I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
I wonder how they chose who was going in goal. Perhaps the manager just said to the tallest player “Urine goal”

King's Lynn lost in the FA Trophy game to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday at the Walks. Game ended 1-1 and the Linnets lost 4-5 on pens.

Their success in the FA Cup is creating rather a backlog of games to be played, which I hope won't spoil a wonderful run so far this season. With a small squad a game every few days can create problems for non-league clubs with small squads.

King's Lynn definitely look well placed for a potentially quick return to the NL Richard.

It may not be good for the club this season, but a good cup run will help finance the club alot better for the long term, which in turn helps them and the local community alot more than you can imagine.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. They got £41,000 for winning the first-round game, which is gold dust for a small club in the lower leagues. And of course, smaller sums adding in for the earlier rounds.

As Otis says, they are well placed for a quick return to the National League; rather like our cup run last year, I hope it boosts the confidence and allows them to keep up the good form.

I see that Ilkeston are letting supporters in for free this weekend. I’d have gone if I hadn’t already got tickets for Wednesday’s cup tie.

They have Jamie Ward as player-manager, Kelvin Wilson is a coach & Chris O'Grady is up top. So if you wanna relive the Dougie years, Ilkeston is the place to go.

Paul Anderson? I think he comes from Melton-I seem to remember hearing him say a while ago he was now playing for his home town team.

On the money,

Comes from John o’gaunt just outside Melton

Played well and used his experience on the pitch.

Probably see Ollie Burke there before long

Can't Play Left-Back
Don't know if anyone else saw this but the Bath City/Dulwich game the other night was abandoned after about 10 minutes.

It seems that the ground has rigid (i.e. concrete) backed advertising hoardings round it and a player - Alex Fletcher - has impacted head first.

It sounds awful and the tone of messages coming out of the club and the whole football world suggest it's really bad.

Good news, he's on the mend!
The club is very pleased to share this update from Alex and his family.

A message from Alex:

Thank you all so much for your kindness, generosity and messages of good will that you have sent to me through what has been the most challenging period of my life. I am now off the intensive care unit and continuing my recovery on the neurosurgery ward assisted by the wonderful staff and nurses here. I want to say a special thank you to all those who have been looking after me and my family and to everyone who has contributed to the go fund me page which will help me get back to doing what I love to do as soon as possible. It will be a long road to recovery but I will draw on all of the love and support that everyone has shown, every step of the way.

Look forward to seeing you all in the future but in the meantime, up the Romans

For the ability he had, Lee Tomlin has had a shocking career.

I suspect he won't last long at Ilkeston either before he leaves.

Probably, he was only at Doncaster for a short amount of time before he left earlier this season.

It's a real shame, as he had the ability to do so much more with his career. Not too dissimilar to the Lewis McGugan situation really.

Another ex-Red potentially dropping into non-league football, John Bostock, training with the Sadpies.

I can't even remember who our manager was who got him back into shape and playing well - iirc he had a (couple of?) good season after too for Cardiff?

In fairness to Tomlin, injuries will have played a part too - pretty demoralising to go through rehab to break down again with something different over and over.

But yeah, he had top level talent at his best, which wasn't very often in the grand scheme of his career.

Tomlin's problem is that hes a natural fatty, so every rehabilitation was part losing weight, part regaining fitness - they're not the same. That always cost him time but at the same meant he probably returned too quickly, ready to break again.
