I've said it elsewhere already, but those FFP charges have ruined the season, no matter what happens.

It's impossible to celebrate a win when you expect the points to be taken away again, and every defeat hits twice as bad when you need more points than you normally would.

This is so spot on.

Much like that feeling with VAR when a goal goes in, even on the extremely rare occasions we do win, it feels like those points are gonna be chewed up by the system.

Worse yet, whilst ever the owner's son is throwing his wildcard actions into the mix, any long-term plan to move forward feels like it comes with a ball & chain that could potentially screw it all up (again). "here's our planned out strategy for players this window.....oh look! Carvalho/Lingard/etc! TAKE OUR MONEY!!" lol

And even if we don't get any points deductions, the position which the club has put us in with FFP and the effect it's had on moral with some fans is huge negative.

Completely self-inflicted too :( Utterly frustrating AF.

Playing on the counter is obviously our best option for the time being, but we need to be putting more opposition players on the floor with physicality and hard tackling.

Not to the point where we're picking up cards like confetti, but playing Forest needs to be far more of a physical test for upcoming opposition.

We still feel really imbalanced in terms of what each player can offer. It's not just about them being good or bad to me, it's as much about the fact that we're essentially a band playing with several guitarists, several bassists, but lacking a drummer.

No opposition team fears us or fears coming to the CG anymore like they did the past 2 seasons. When Newcastle shut up shop last night they new that they'd be able to do that pretty untested, and they were right too.

I find the idea that we’re “running out of time” that I keep hearing a bit weird. We’re in 16th place! Sure we may yet get a points reduction but so should Everton in that case, and we’re still above them.

Last season we went from the beginning of February until 26th of APRIL without winning a game.

I feel similar to last year after our defeat at Brentford. Feels like we’re close to getting some form, but keep shooting ourselves in the foot with defensive mistakes plus a bad rub of the green on referee/VAR decisions. After Brentford we went on a run that brought us safety, with far fewer games left to play. So my hope is we repeat that, and with our players coming back from injury/Africa we need to develop that battling mentality that kept us up last season.

Even as recently as the home game against Bournemouth it felt like the world was against us. But things changed quickly the very next game.

January and Febuary so far have been ridiculously fragmented. We have to hope we can pick up some rhythm and discipline when we have the full squad together and games are happening at more regular intervals.

It's at times like this we remember how far we've come. Rumour is the kit man is still chasing this down London Road

Still feel absolutely confident that we stay up.if there's no points deduction.

But if we get 5 or more points deducted I can't see us staying up now.

Whilst this is true of yesterday, Alf, we barely laid glove on Newcastle at the WFCG last season. The 2-1 defeat was kind to us. They battered us.

And yesterday they were missing a keeper, Joelinton and Izak, unless I'm mistaken. And Wilson is a pretty good replacement for Izak and Dubravka is a keeper we'd dream of having as number one. We are far better with the ball than we were . Unfortunately, we now gift the opposition goals whereas last season, at home particular, we got lucky.

The crowd are a lot quieter than last season too. This fucks me off. I support Forest, not the man managing us, and I make a lot of noise whoever is in charge. If you don't want to cheer them on then f*** off and let someone attend who will.

(message to no one in particular, just those who think it's OK not to get behind the team because Steve isn't in charge).

We are definitely in the mire of a relegation battle, there is no doubt of that. The points deduction is what really worries me as I think we’d be fine with the points we’ll get on the pitch. However, I do think the doom and fear comes from the psyche of the football fan in this position, it was the same last year.

As we got to the business end of last season everyone was convinced Leeds and Leicester would win almost any game they played. It was completely illogical and obviously didn’t happen but when the ‘everything will go wrong’ mindset sets in we find ourselves panicked.

Luton are this season’s Leeds and Leicester. They’ve had a decent run of results and they scrap hard, but they’re still crap. You saw that yesterday when they had the weight of expectation with a home game against the worst team in the league. Logic and data tell us Luton will win very few games between now and the end of the season but we upgrade them because we’re worried about them. Relegation worries mess with your head.

In the cold light of day it’s very hard to see Luton ending up with more than 32 or 33 points, they’re the same team they’ve been all season. And thats without even looking at the brutal gauntlet of top teams they have left to play. 39 or 40 points for them isn’t happening and if we were in mid table we’d look at them and laugh at the suggestion they’d get there.

I’m worried about us, but I also don’t think us getting to 40 is completely far fetched despite the results of late. We might need to get there because of ffp too. I would be surprised though if we don’t get to the 35+ range.

We’re panicky Because we’re illogically overrating Luton on the back of what will be their best run of the season just like we did Leeds and Leicester a year ago.

We should rightfully be concerned, but keep the faith and try and get out of the nervous football fan mindset when looking at and evaluating the teams around us. They aren’t very good at all.

My mood is currently the same as the day after the play-off final.
We'll be a bottom 6 side for 3 seasons and in a relegation battle for 3 seasons.
At times I've flirted with us bettering that .... ie becoming a 12-14th side, but not often.
It was always going to be a struggle even if everything was close to perfect behind the scenes and on the pitch.
I've been accepting of the fact that we'd lose 15-20 games a season. I suppose some fans have had a bit of a shock in that regards.
I still think we'll stay up.

I see us as having 8 games where it would be reasonable to pick up points, 2 of those are our relegation rivals so if we did the effect would be exacerbated due to them losing points where they could reasonably expect to win them.
We surely have more rivals than 2 - Brentford, Palace, Everton and Luton I would say are all rivals. None of that lot is clear away from trouble and only a game brings them properly into the mix.

I think believe the way we have played against PL opposition, any team below 7th or 8th is there to be beaten.

A half decent keeper now and forwards on speed. We could gather 15 to 20 points, if not low 20s.

No point feeling down, plenty of positives, other than the silly mistakes we've been in every game under Nuno, never lost by more than a single goal.

He knows how to set up a team defensively, he'll get it right sooner or later and when it comes together could easily win 2 or 3 on the bounce.

Onwards and upwards, and personally I'm not thinking about the points deduction as it is outside our control.

No chance brentford get sucked in anymore unfortunately toney will sort that plus there other injuries will trickle back in slowly next year could be different though they don't seem to be finding the gems anymore in the transfer window would be a shame if they wasted that toney money they will get

Quaint.

Folk were warned about ripping the soul out of the club without due care but they would insist that it was holding us back from our top half ambitions.

Glad it's gone so well since that telling other fans to f*** off can be the next stage of project toys out of the pram.

Another team we're due to face who are off-form, with no wins in the last 5 Prem games, including games against Sheff U & Bournmouth, and 9 goals conceded 0 scored in the last two games.

Literally the perfect time for us to play the :)

I think Brentford will be fine because of Toney but they will have an influence as they have to play Luton and Everton.

I didn't think about Palace because I think that they should be fine but you are right that they could get dragged into the mix and have still got to play us, Everton and Luton. I think with them its if they appoint a new manager and get a small bounce but they probably have only 4 fixtures they reasonably could expect points.

That being said they could also pick up 3 points tomorrow and if they do then they'll be 6 points clear of us because Chelsea are hard to predict.

I think that's the coup de grâce for the "magic of the FA cup" argument for a lower Prem team desperate to suckle on the Premier League riches to enable evolution whilst also playing it's 1st team in the cup. Just look what a 4 week winter break with a game in the middle has done for Arsenal's form. Completely revitalised.

Maidenhead dumping Ipswich out with a fan falling off the top tier - Yes absolutely magic.

FFP threatend Nottingham Forest accruing X2 replays with extra time - No.

We ran Chris Wood into the ground and now don't have our top goalscorer for 6-8 weeks.

Both Eze and Olise (potentially for while) out for Palace, so I think they're in the relegation mix.

On a positive note, at least we'll have at least one AfCon champion in the team this season. Though with our luck it'll be Aina and he'll be off for £200k a week in the summer ... :-/

I agree, but unfortunately a lot, including the owner, think we should be a top half team less than 18 months after getting promoted after 23 years away with a team of loanees because we'd been so badly run that due to FFP we couldn't afford to buy players any more.

So it's 1815 on the day following a defeat, from a game we should have won due to defensive and individual errors.

I guess and hope the First team squad are just finishing their 4th 3 hour defensive training session and are prepping for a bit of a gentle 6 miler to warm up before a shooting session.

Anything less and they are not taking this situation serious.
