The Mood

Mixed mood.

Disappointed that the Cooper reign ended the way it did, although it was inevitable in the end.

Positive that we do seem to have got a good replacement in who might well get a tune out of the players and move the club forward.

Worried that the club may not actually learn that recruitment is a massive problem for whomever the manager is. And if Mendes has a bigger influence now are we going to see even more buying/selling for the benefit of agents rather than the benefit of the club.

I was feeling despondent and not looking forward to matches any more, but now I feel really hopeful again and interested how the new look Forest will play in these next few games. Nuno seems like a really nice man and I think the fans are going to take to him as long as he gets some positive results quickly.

Just back after having a lengthy conversation to a United mate about the whole situation (he was onboard as much as anyone could be from outside our club, loved Coops) and i realised while talking about the situation to him that a weight has been lifted. In fact i'd go a lot further and say i'm now going to embrace the dark side and become as driven and unforgiving as the Big Man wants us to be. No more sentiment. Coops was a gift, but ultimately being nice gets you nowhere. f*** everyone, i hope we become the most hated team in the country.

Line em up Big Man and i'll shoot them down.

I’m as low as I can remember for a long time from a Forest perspective. I want to see us pick up a few wins because to be relegated would add insult to injury.

Over 30 years we’ve had very few times where we had ‘something good’ going and self-sabotaged ourselves, and this could be one of those occasions.

Relegations, mismanagement, playoff defeats, and embarrassing losses are all par for the course but there have been few and far between examples where we had a good thing going - Selling Collymore, selling PH’s team, not signing Shorey, Sacking Billy Mk1, sacking SOD, hiring McClaren, are all examples that spring to mind.

I hope we buck a multi-decade trend and this gamble pays off, but the difference between finishing 10th, 12th, 17th is irrelevant to me currently - they’re all nothing.

This’ll hurt for a good while yet.

I'm in a similar place, like OK big man you're ambitious and want better things in life than you believe Cooper could deliver, fair enough. I'll back Nuno who seems a gent but if you want to talk about ambitions, then we can talk about the poor product and slow delivery because you expect top 6 results with bottom 3 resourcing.....

The stadium is not up to scratch, its probably 3rd or 4th worst in the league. The Peter Taylor stand is obviously in need of development but so is the rest if the ground.

Storage containers look cheap because they are cheap.

You've had multiple years and multiple planning applications, its time to s**t or get off the pot.

You need to sort the situation with the tannoy in terms of the cock up for MOK.

The water situation, the catering situation, the toilet facility situation and the match experience is embarrassing and there have been multiple examples of away fans having abysmal experiences.

The shirts are expensive and not worth the money and the sponsor seems to be some kind of front for skullduggery.

The online and physical shops are not adequately providing services or goods.

The ticket cost is not value for money.

The ticket office is under resourced.

The social media output from the club is not up to speed.

The player recruitment is poor.

The academy also seems to lack a clear pathway to the first team.

If European competition is the ambition then the above bits and loads more need fixing as well as the person who trains and picks the team.

My expectation is now that we want top ten football we address the above and provide top ten product and results.

my mood is confusion. I do think this group of players is better than what cooper was producing. Not top ten standard but better however I’m not sure Nuno is the man to get more out of them. Also feel very sad that cooper has left cause in my life he’s the best one by a country mile.

I'm in a weird one in that I'd been pretty down about it all since the Everton game, thought the decision had been made at Fulham and have been on tenterhooks since...

I'm pleased Steve got a couple of games to put things right after that, though disappointed he didn't get the game where I hoped he'd get the result (Bournemouth). I ultimately understand that it's only been a matter of time since way before that Everton performance.

And here we are now - I'm somewhat optimistic about Santo, though think it's going to take him a while (after the Jan break) to get his ideas in place to the point where they start getting results. Who knows what happens in and around the place if Saturday's a stinker? (Family stuff means I won't be there on Saturday, and while I'm a little disappointed I'd have been gutted if it was still SC in the dugout.)

But yeah, ultimately I feel I did my 'grieving' early and am looking forward to see how the man chosen by the man can set about realising those lofty ambitions. I'm not sure anyone would be able to reach those if I'm honest, though I don't mind the owner reaching for the stars so much - it might be blind/unrealistic ambition, but well, all you can do really is sit back and enjoy the ride as best you can - realistic or not I'd rather that level of ambition than the days of selling the captain just to stay afloat.

Not that I think it's possible, but then neither was what we've already done!

Quite positive actually.

Very sad how Cooper went in the end, proud of how the vast majority stayed loyal to him, pissed off at those who preached against him being two faced enough to now say how good he was and angry at the tossers that having got what they wanted seem determined to run him down still. Best thing to do there is let those who want to grieve, grieve and not wind them up because we want everyone to get round to supporting the new manager as quickly as possible.

Then excited for the future. The owner has shown balls in removing a popular manager and has appointed a proven, yet still young manager to take us on the next step of the journey. His target is the top, so he'll back his man and if it isn't working has shown he will quite ruthlessly get someone else in who he thinks can do better.

Things are dark at the moment but I am sure the owner is looking for comfortable safety this year followed by a push for top ten next year and then on again. He seems determined to give us all what we dreamed of during those years in the wilderness so if we get on board with him and demand the same expectations he'll see it and realise we understand him and double down on his determination to stop at nothing to take us on a journey we never thought would happen.

Exciting times ahead.

Pretty optimistic, new manager has done it at this level, ok with better players but the Jan window should bring in a bit more quality you hope and the assignment isn't that tough. Luton in 18th are on 9 points from 16, ppg of 0.5625 which if it continues will end with 22 points. Forest could go past that before the turn of the year or with 2 wins and a draw be in 21 points.

So unless the bottom 3 improve, 3 wins should do it. Of course there is a high chance one of the 3 promote sides will go on a run but it just shows the current picture.

You've outlined what a shitshambles of a club we've been for most of my life. Cooper brought us something new and I genuinely grieve him leaving. He is a thoroughly decent human being and delivered something miraculous.

It wasn't just the surge from relegation favourites to promotion that was miraculous. He gave us our authentic pride back, because he had it too. I wanted it to work so much, that I don't even know anymore whether my affection for the manager clouded my judgement.

I have my doubts, but I hope we stay up and this works out. It'll take some time to get used to and I hope the players adjust quicker than me.

It’s a weird feeling tbh. Now that Cooper has gone, I feel that I’m going to be a bit more ruthless with the new manager and any new players, if we’re not winning games, I will demand more and more and more. I will forget about the realities of football and expect Europe every single season, I will avoid any emotional attachments to Nuno, because he’ll be gone in 18 months, even if he delivers moderate success.

My feelings for Cooper will never change - legend of the club and etched in our history. I’ve heard the stories that he was interviewed for Palace over summer. I don’t blame him for this at all, he was very employable over summer and the relationship with Marinakis was already strained.

Having got over the initial sadness there’s now a feeling of slight relief that Steve’s future doesn’t hinge on the result of tomorrow’s game. Waiting for the axe to fall has been almost as stressful as the poor results.

Yes. I have felt that too - it's ridiculous how much emotional attachment you can place on things way beyond your control, but I suppose entirely natural given the importance we all seem to place on 11 men kicking a ball.

Anyhow, the O'Driscoll sacking left its mark on me, and I had us doing the vs Leeds thing but with Cooper still getting the boot, which may have been even worse than this week has been.
