The Mood

Also what people perceive as digs as well. It’s quite clear cooper wasn’t getting the best out the players. You can’t hide that fact and the players clearly didn’t down tools either. They all speak so highly of him. So cooper just get it out of them. I love cooper and always will but that’s an observation I have! A dig to me would be calling him shit or going into abuse. We are going to need to talk about the improvements from one manager to the other and want things aren’t improved.

Also saying I told you so won’t be helpful now even if you were correct in your assumptions. As we need to get together going forward.

People need to give the benefit of the doubt if they can going forward cause it’s a confusing and emotional time.

Absolutely - it’s calling him a ‘Fraud’ or ‘Clueless’ which isn’t call for. Also, we need to analyse what went wrong with Cooper to progress. For example, there would be no point in Nuno progressing with this group of players and then over summer, we continue with a bloated transfer policy. It will demonstrate that we’ve learnt nothing as a club, if that were to happen.

For the club, I think the mood is one of optimism and folk are looking up the table and forward, which considering how things were two weeks ago, is a real positive.

For me, I just feel in a really weird place and I don't know if anyone else feels it, so I'd be interested to know if you do.

I feel like I don't want to fully embrace Nuno as manager yet, out of some sort of loyalty to how things went with Steve. I've never met Steve but I feel a sense of loyalty to the bloke and I sort of hope he does take the Palace job because everyone will move on at that point. Right now, we're just three games in and there is still quite a lot of discussion about the change. I know it's actually irrational to feel like that but I can't help it.

At the same time, we're a team that is both capable of bloodying some noses in this league and also, some absolute horror show performances.

In 2023 alone, we have drawn twice and beaten Chelsea. We've beat Newcastle away, Arsenal and Manchester United at home. We've beat Villa at home as well when they're flying. By contrast however, we've been pumped 5-0 and 4-0 away by Fulham and West Ham. We've failed to beat Everton, Burnley and Luton.

My mood is hopeful, but cautious.

I certainly don't think Cooper is a fraud , or clueless. But I do think he struggled to deal with managing at this level. This is the top league on planet Earth. And we have to remember this group of players have played for some top managers, so how Coops dealt with the gig will always be compared to their prior experiences elsewhere, be it internationally or at club level. I don't think he surrounded himself with the right people either, to be blunt. Cooper must, for his own benefit, learn from this experience and make sure his approach on any number of things (at his next club) is different.

It's kind of how I feel too.

I'll always love Steve Cooper, what he did for this club should never be forgotten. He'll always be a Forest legend in my eyes. Part of me will always wonder how he would have fared with a decent fit striker and keeper.

Early days still, but it has to be said that I do like what I've seen and heard about Nuno a lot. Feels like we've replaced one top bloke with another, and the last three games (and two results) have been really positive. He also has been really respectful re: Cooper as well; didn't have to say anything about his predecessor, but very classy of him to do so.

Feels a bit wrong to go overboard with liking the new manager still after our journey with Cooper, but I have to say I really like Nuno so far.

This is my take on the situation. Steve Cooper has just ran the first two laps of the race, put us in a very good place. Now he’s handed over the baton to Nuno and it’s his turn to take us further round the track.
Now it’s time for us all to cheer Nuno on his leg of the race.

Btw. I’m still buzzing.

I think this is the most apt way of putting it. For NES, it's an opportunity, in due time (I hope) to take us up two levels and back into Europe.

Love this take Rocka.

Whether we feel Cooper was hard done by or not, at least for once we seem to have appointed someone capable in his place. A far cry from the Davies-to-McClaren or even Basset-to-Atkison then Platt days.

Yep, because Nuno seems to be just cracking on and already getting us two rather valuable wins, I think it has enabled him to get the fans on his side sooner rather than later. With Cooper held in such high regard here, he needed those two wins.

That Wolves fan that posted the other day about Nuno gave me hope that we’ve got a decent chap in charge. It’s obviously such a shame that it ended like it did for SC.

Just had a look and this morning's 40/1 to finish in the top half is now 28/1. On Sky bet

That's because two people on this forum have bet on it over the last 24 hours which has therefore likely increased the number of punters betting on that market by 200%.

It's an automatic risk adjustment that betting companies do rather than a reflection of Forest's chances of achieving it. Nothing has happened in the actual league in that time period to warrant organic change (yes I know Newcastle lost but they were heavily weighted to lose anyway so that dial barely moved).

I’m all good. We’re a better team that the bottom lot, we can still go out and plug any gaps we need and also reduce the squad size. We can make up any points that may or may not get deducted and frankly I’m just not concerned.

We’ve got a real fight our hands now.

I’m not sure if it’s a slap too many for the likes of Everton though which may help us.

Just need to get more points under our belt than the other teams at the bottom to ensure we’re not in a serious relegation scrap. Oh bugger, we really didn’t need this.
