Well it's hard for me to grasp the context of your criticism when all you're saying is that he wants to win matches. You've fleshed it out a bit now - I accept your point about Henderson and the like (I'm not sure Barkley and Powell have done much to merit a call up other than be contracted to big clubs, mind you); I do think it's a decent idea that once a player makes the step up to full international level he ought then to be out of consideration for the U-21s unless in exceptional circumstances.
The thing with Pearce is, there's clearly an agenda against him - you only have to look at what happened when he took the caretaker role with the senior team - and so he's damned either way: he's been successful, but people make an issue of the means he's employed whilst enjoying that success (results are not the only metric, etc) but of course, if he'd not been successful, people would have a go at him on the basis of results alone.
