The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by The Artist Formerly Known As Samuel

Re: The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by Samuel

Well it's hard for me to grasp the context of your criticism when all you're saying is that he wants to win matches. You've fleshed it out a bit now - I accept your point about Henderson and the like (I'm not sure Barkley and Powell have done much to merit a call up other than be contracted to big clubs, mind you); I do think it's a decent idea that once a player makes the step up to full international level he ought then to be out of consideration for the U-21s unless in exceptional circumstances.

The thing with Pearce is, there's clearly an agenda against him - you only have to look at what happened when he took the caretaker role with the senior team - and so he's damned either way: he's been successful, but people make an issue of the means he's employed whilst enjoying that success (results are not the only metric, etc) but of course, if he'd not been successful, people would have a go at him on the basis of results alone.

The boy's got ink!

He is now looking like the player we all hoped he would.

Merci, M. Wenger!

Read some tweets last night from some Arsenal fans who are still pissed of that they let him go.

Will be a huge player for us over the coming progressive years.

Knew he'd some good. He had no pre-season to a bad injury, and now we're seeing the goods. You don't get promotion winning West Ham and Norwich fans, and even some Arsenal fans, hoping he'd sign/stay.

He's been awesome today, before even considering the goal.

Dominant in midfield, seemed to be everywhere and scored a blinder.

Best midfielder in the division? I've not seen many better so far this season.

Also managed to tactically get that fifth yellow as well.

This. Really good goal and played well throughout.

A complete midfield performance from Lans today.
I'm just laughing at those deluded Sheep fans that were claiming that their midfield was is so much better than ours.
Reid and Lansbury are the two best midfielders I've seen in the Championship this season.

How much would we value him at do you think? Also, does anyone worry that prem clubs will start sniffing around him soon? I'd be gutted if he left in January :-(

As Hockley says above, Henri is the kind of player you build a side around.

His vision and mobility are excellent, and he's got an eye for a pass, and fantastic shot on him and he's the sort of box-to-box midfielder we've not had for many seasons.

If it's true we paid a little over a million for him that's a bargain. Thank you, Arsene Wenger.

So Will Hughes is worth more than Lansbury?

Go give your head a shake.

I've not really seen Hughes play that much (have any of us?), but I'd say that he's horribly overpriced. The Andy Carroll transfer really screwed up our system - all of a sudden players were worth twice as much just because he went for a ridiculous amount. I'd say Lansbury is a 3m player, so 1m was a great deal.

Who's actually said Hugues or however his name is spelt is worth 15 million apart from Derby fans?

Lansbury is worth a lot more than 3mil.

I said it the day he signed that I couldn't believe Arsenal let him go for peanuts.

If and that is a very big IF Arthur was responsible for that it's the only thing he did in 12 years for our club.
