Presuming we stay up…which is looking more likely (Everton) then I think the 24/25 season will be a big one for signings. Not in numbers, but in quality coming in.
The permanent sale of Mangala could see us PSR compliant for 23/24. With a few fringe players helping us get under the limit. If not, I think I read somewhere that the accounting period could be pushed back to end of July?
Looking at the 22/23 wages (147m). We would have likely moved on 25 players (!) in the 23/24 season:

That is surely a huge reduction in wages, giving us great flexibility in 24/25.
MGW and Murillo might want to force through a move, but I don’t think we’d have to sell.
If they wanted to stay, then Niakhate leaving makes more sense.

I don't think we would get anywhere near what people hope we would get for MGW.
But Murillo? I think we could get 60 plus. There's very few defenders his age who have looked this good. Throw in the clear potential with his through balls, shooting and marauding runs and he is very clearly potentially world class and the kind of player the big boys could sign and pencil in for a decade of starting for them.

Do we get the money for finishing higher up the table in this seasons accounts? Surely our December accounts only include us finishing 17th!?!?!
14th is the best we can finish, in Palace’s place. Earning us an extra 6.6m.
Add in Mangala and Worrall (both OTBs) and we should break even (or better) for the 23/24 accounts.

If Sangare doesn’t hit the mark, could we line up a swap deal with PSV late in the window?
Give him pre-season and the first few games, then send him back + cash for Bakayoko if it doesn’t work out.

Not sure but I think last year’s projections were based on us finishing 12th. So I don’t hold out too many hopes that a poor league position has been factored in this time around.
A very key factor in that was Leicester being relegated. You can’t demand the same and the player will not remotely want to stay.

I know the summer transfer window is the least of your concerns with all the relegation dogfight and ffp dramas (which loads of work do not allow me to watch in detail), but let me point out that Fabinho was in our stadium last night. He's a Mendes client and it was Nuno who convinced him to go to Al-Ittihad last summer. He will be 31 in autumn, he's not washed up yet.

At 30 (or 31 then) you'd hope he still has that ambition to play at the top level a few more years.

With that said, if money is tight then central midfield is the last area in the side that needs addressing in the summer.
A talented young striker with something to prove (i.e not a Batshuayi or Origi-type), a pacey winger to cover for Elanga and Hudson-Odoi's inevitable missed game time and a first-class RB/WBR are miles ahead on the needs list.
With that said, if money is tight then central midfield is the last area in the side that needs addressing in the summer.
