Can someone jog my memory on the £75m-100m budget story. Where was his actually published and are the writers considered trustworthy usually?

Like we usually take reports with a pinch of salt unless it is Percy or Romano, but it feels like we are running with these figures (me included) as if fact stated by EM himself

Piggybacking onto this Bundersliga love-in; for the regulars over there, what's your opinion on Florian Grillitsch? Austrian international CM linked with Arsenal, Milan, Fiorentina and Leeds last month, but is still a free agent after not signing again with 1899 Hoffenheim. Looks a great ball player and defensive mid, but is he mobile enough for Cooper's midfield and that's why we haven't been linked, or perhaps he's out of our league?
He has the same agent as most of the players we are signing too.

Although I saw he played CB most of last season so I am not sure he would be needed.

Hi GBG, a question. I also direct it to our other fabulous Greek contributor Karteo.

What do the Olympiacos fans feel about EM ploughing such a huge amount of money in to Forest?

Do they think it is ok as the tv money on the premier league can justify it or is there a bit of resentment?

Do they / you / even EM feel there is a benefit to Olympiacos in Forest being in the premier league?

Ok, more than one question but interested in ‘the mood’ in Piraeus.

Regards.

I absolutely am interested in the answer to this from our Greek friends who are members of the forum. It's something I've been pondering myself recently but didn't want to ask because it may have come across as a bit conceited or arrogant and that's absolutely not the intention (and nor does your question come across that way, @GOBIAS).

I've been wondering if there may be - or if there is likely to be in the future - any resentment toward Forest amongst Olympiacos fans about the players we are signing/looking to sign when they could be good additions to your squad too? Or is there an acceptance that some players will want to play in the Premier League as opposed to the Greek Super League (apologies if I have the name of your top division wrong)?

Perhaps it's more a question for the future if (when . . . . 😅) Forest get back into European competition?

I think Percy said over £100m has been made avalible.

But EM himself said we would need to invest more than the TV money, whether he meant over a few years or just this summer I dunno. I expect we will spend the 100 regardless, I honestly could see us going higher as the window nears closing.

I really want us to get or at least enquire about Kamada from Frankfurt, He can play different positions in midfield and with last year on his contract, don't think would cost to to much. What do you think @Strummer ?
It’s an interesting one. He played 32 times last season for Eintracht, mostly as an attacking CM.

Good on the ball, great engine and will run all day. Only 25 too.

And Eintracht have just signed Mario Götze, who kind of plays the same position…

With half the team made up of loans and having been out of the top tier for over 2 decades, survival was never going to come cheap.

All acquisitions will have been well thought out with future value in mind if the worst was to happen. With shrewd signings and the catalyst that is Cooper, plan A would be to survive comfortably and then build on it in the following years.

Whoscored has him playing 15 times in midfield compared to 12 in defence and Transfermarkt has his main position as DM.

As I've said before, there is some resentment when media covering Olympiacos overstate Forest news and Forest successes; it's a kind of "yeah, OK, well done Forest, good for you and we're happy for you, but don't bust our balls with Forest, you're covering our team" reaction. There's also some resentment in some quarters when they feel that EM and, especially, MM works for Forest more than they deem 'appropriate' (Miltiadis got some heat on twitter for an Olympiacos fan complaining about transfer delays); they want us to be their top priority. Finally, some fans, who prefer not to trouble their little minds with things like money and the bigger picture, may complain about the sums. But it's on a pretty stupid level, and they complain about irrelevant things like "why did EM buy a TV station, he could have bought three strikers and four midfielders for us instead".

I don't think there is any real, and tangible resentment though in the majority of fans though.

Do we think they are already positioning the ownership in such as way that there will be no conflict of interest if Forest are successful and the 2 clubs meet competitively?

Seems to be like Forest will be Miltadis' and Olympiakos Marinakis Snr?

Father vs Son face off in the Europa League would be interesting

I don't think UEFA will look too kindly on two teams competing in a European competion while being owned by father and son. The solution when that time comes, as I've said from day one, will be Kominakis: EM will transfer 31% of his shares to him, so technically he will not own more than 50% in both clubs.

How much involvement does Kominakis have with Forest at the moment other than being a major shareholder? Not sure I even know what he looks like. I assume he has no involvement with Olympiakos?

He has no involvement with either club other than consistently watching matches of both.

He's a lifelong friend of EM, and equally fat.

Kominakis plays a vital role, as when we enter European competiton next season, EM will need to sign club over to Kom.

In the early years of EM's ownership he was our vice president. He disagreed with EM about how to run the club (he wanted more money spent more quickly and resigned. This did not damage their friendship at all.

look, we are living on earth. we know that we don't have the money that a PL club has. we also know that players prefer PL than Greek football and the only leverage we have is potential CL which now, due to the difficult qualifications, is not that easy as in the past. so as long as the club stays successful there is not such a case.

we are aware, more than you probably and the fans there, that these are two different boats sailing in different ships although they transfer similar products. the clubs will cooperate and benefit from each other but there are two different pockets. in different trousers too.

of course there will be idiots that will say why EM is spending this or that in NFFC and not here but these are what i said. Idiots and a very small minority that is brought back on earth by the majority of the fans and media.

We like football, and we like good football. EM has to provide the means to experience this. And up to now he is doing this because he loves Olympiakos as a fan more than an owner and never hesitated to splash cash in order to help the team. Under the FFP of course which is also an important factor that you have also to consider.

EM will never jeopardize the team financially. He will try to find ways to comply with FFP rules etc but he won't shoot the club in between the eyes just for having an extra applause.
