Yeah, they quite possibly could have. But, we'd have been very underwhelmed with either starting and neither would start in the current side. Wallace especially would have been a good back up though

Out of interest, when does this window close??
Still need three players. Disappointing week for the club as two prime targets seem to be be either gone or out of reach.

Priorities should be another CM a #9 and, at a push another LB.

Have you never seen the Skysports clock in the transfer window? It's so exciting at 10.59 on deadline day.

What a deflating day yesterday for transfers.

You'd have to think though that even if someone signed today it'd be difficult for them to play on Sunday.

Ah my dear boy. I find with these things to step back. Modern media tries to engage us by the hour (or minute!). Yesterday might have been deflating, but extend your lens to the last month , 12 new signings inc. Udders best two players, Lingard and three solid Bundesliga performers, far from deflating. Extend to a year, a promotion some of the best performances we've seen in 20 years and a packed stadium every week - bloody marvelous... Unless you wish to adjust your lens to 50 years I would stop there!

Point being, judge a team over a season at least (I'd argue 2-3 years) and transfer activity over, at the very least, a window or two. Have faith. Lots more ins and outs to happen

Just a wish list

SC sign your new contract, fans, players and owner will then all have one less thing to worry about.

Get Garner and Davis in, buy Garner , loan Davis with option to buy. Will bring back some of the togetherness from last season a little bit quicker.

Totally understand DS, PZ and ML cannot return for different reasons, ours and theirs.

But first and foremost make the WFCG an absolute cauldron of noise like we did last year and smash WHU. That will give everyone from the top down the buzz and confidence going forward.

Then I can start looking at these names that appear on the forum who I have never ever heard of never mind play the realisation that when they come to us we expect them to lay their lives down on that pitch and that they will be playing CL football in a short space of time at the WFCG.

If they don’t want to come like Moreno then f*** em,but if they do as it is widely reported MGW does then embrace them.

Sunday will be a great day.

Will you never learn Mr Reardon, some folk dont want to hear sense. They just want to vent their angst in public.

Yeazy, have a day off ffs. The sun is shining, birds singing etc. Chill...

I reckon we have now had most of our hard work behind the scenes low profile transfers now and have now reached the stage where everyone we want gets pounced on by a bigger team as soon as we are negotiating.... I'm afraid we are not going to get the team as Coops would like it but I'm sure he can figure out the best strategy with the personnel we do have (until the next transfer window).

As for some players seemingly refusing to come to us... well in that case you definitely were not the personnel that we required to generate any kind of togetherness in the dressing room... so good riddance!

Our recruitment team will have lots of other options but they just wont be as good as their initial ones (or not good now, only later).

😆 I love this line, keep seeing it a lot on here aimed at anyone who's opinion isn't completely rose-tinted.

It's like it's impossible to both enjoy summer sunshine and hold a differing opinion on the team. I've played 18 holes this evening by the sea and had a few pints in the club beer garden. It's been lovely.

Oh and by the way my opinions are still the same despite all this 😆

Good man (bar the golf bit - not a fan but it takes all sorts...)

You can hold any opinion you like but it comes across a bit much when reiterated again and again...

I just pop n here now and again to see if any news.

Roll on sunday and lets enjoy some footie 🙂

Feels like Sheriff Dane’s got his work cut out now. Everywhere he turns the shutters get pulled down.
So when does the old blueprint get chucked out the window and he tips his Stetson back and goes full on scattergun? Or have we already?

This is to be expected. Better players have more choice. More choice will seldom result in choosing Forest. We are the highest risk of championship football across the league. Bundesliga and Championship is where we'll have to continue to shop

Collymore!

Thankyou Steve!
We’re also targeting quality players for a newly promoted side - takes work to agree with the club, then even more to convince them we have a good future.

Targeting Betis, Villarreal, Wolves and other more established, short term secure, players isn’t as easy as signing Jed Wallace on a free (no disrespect).

Some players will jump at the chance of being in the Premier League, and while there will be some gems here, the final pieces of the attack will cost money and time.

Definitely. And I still think that players, clubs and agents will use every angle they possibly can to squeeze a few more quid out of us and will cite our chastening performance against Newcastle as evidence that we're desperate and therefore willing to pay more than the going rate to get them in and quickly.

Another point also, is that I feel we're now caught between a rock and a hard place in that we've spent loads of money as we've had to, and deliberately targeted players who we feel are Premier League ready and can get better. But now we're at the stage where the squad still isn't strong enough and there isn't just a bottomless pit of cash so do we continue to bring in the 4/5 players we need and spend £50/60/70m doing so, basically gambling on staying up? Or do we accept that when all fit and firing we've got a base of 13/14 players who can keep us up and now only bring in cheaper players as cover?

Sauce salad?
There's a difference between gambling on staying up and investing in a squad capable of keeping you up - Cooper needs the tools and Marinakis will give him them, since staying up means more income. That strikes me as common sense - if we were going up to come back down why invest what we have in the first place? It's ambition.
