Season Ticket Protest. ALL fans.

I think to get a true reflection you would have to take out the big 4 who find it perfectly acceptable to pay their subs 80-90 grand a week for doing nothing!

I know there is a big gulf between Chelsea to Liverpool, but I guarantee you that a low paid player at Liverpool is on more than most other players in the league

But then I imagine there would be a gap between any striker and the rest of the team. Plus most sides have 20+ players at least.

It's a moneypit from Hell.

Again, cant be arsed to read the thread, will be total shit anyway.
What are we protesting about?
I live hundreds of miles away.
I would like to protest about my lousy jouneys to the game, which spoil every match for me as I cant get pissed enough before they start.

Anyone want to swap football cards? Remember doing that? Cards, not stickers. It was bliss.

It has already been well publicised that hundreds if not thousands of forest fans will not be renewing their season tickets.

Where? Unfortunately I don't live in the NEP circulation area so could you please enlighten me?

To all those fans who think Doughty has made a lot of investment into the club. Since the days of Platt just over 16 million has been spent on the playing squad with just over 20 million going out. Wake up people!

And the debt and the wages?

I intend to renew my season ticket's, yes that is more than one this season. Having spoken to all around me at the final disaster they are all going to renew.

I know many Forest season ticket holders out this way, a bit of moaning obviously but I have yet to hear of one who will not renew.

I think we have been through so much, if you were going to jump ship you would have done some time ago.

Protest what protest ??

Come on Sedge. :D

I think you need to broaden your horizons a touch.

A quick browse through various other sites/forum will give you a clear indication of the amount of people who will not be renewing season tickets.

I would estimate 2000 ish.

Nigel could of course break the will of many of these, by allowing some serious sustained investment into the playing squad.

My guess is he would rather invest in some of the other businesses he is more passionate about.

Remember that famous quote of recent?

"I would rather give my money to charity than over paid footballers"

Amazing how quickly people forget such statements that give a clear indication of his ambitions.

He did give half a million to the Labour party though didn't he?

I wonder how the Wind Farm contracts are going??

I thourght it was a quarter of a million? And don't you think you might be reading too much into an isolated quote? I'm sure most of us have said uncomplimentary things about the club/players in moments of frustration. The fact (or FACT) is that he has continued to pump money into the club.

Are you advocating that we continue our recent history of employing overpaid footballers?

I can only post what I have talked about and these are supporters who travel in from the Bottesford/Grantham area's so we do not live on the door step.

Yes various moans but I honestly have not spoken to any one who is not going to renew. This area has always been a strong Forest area and nothing seems to have changed.

The reason for doing so is in direct protest to the total lack of ambition and serious investment in the football club.

Nigel Doughty need to be sent a loud and clear message from the fans that his limp running of the club is no longer acceptable.

Either "Put up" of Fu*k Off Nigel.

If the Mrs will not let you spend any more cash on your silly hobby then surely its time to test the water in terms of inviting addition investment or better still getting out of town totally.

For those forest fans who were undecided about whether to renew or not, I think todays Championship Play Off game should have helped you make your minds up.

Derby's fans protested a year ago and this was followed by a take over and Six million investment into the playing squad.

Come on forest fans stand up and be counted.

yeah! that's the guaranteed solution to all our problems. A rich investor to throw money at the team, preferably one with forest roots and loads of money. Foolproof!

If I remember rightly that comment was born out of frustration and continually throwing money at players and getting no results. Also it was at a time when all the crap was going on under Kinnear/Megson, so publically criticsing the team could easily be taken as passion as he was so frustrated with the team under performing.

Anyway your mind is clearly made up on the issue so no point arguing the toss. I have to admit, the way you carry on seems almost like you're purely in it for the craic, and you're just sat at your computer enjoying it.

Feel free to no go to the games any more, it won't stop me. Just don't bother handing me any leaflets or any bollocks at games, I go because I want to and I don't want to be canvassed into anything other than sitting in my seat and occasionally shouting you reds!

I will not be renewing my season ticket, not because of our promotion demolish, nor the apparent lack of finance from ND (which remains to be proven) or the fact of in all honestly the lack of any real desire or passion to get out of League One. Couldn't afford the ticket because I have no job, got the job, can afford it, got to work on Saturdays. Simple As :(

I fairly certain I won't be renewing my ST next season for the first time in a decade, but's that's down to the fact that I can no longer justify the cost. I will pick and choose games next season - home and away - probably with the emphasis on the away trips when tickets make it to general sale.

But to suggest getting new owners in would be the answer is incredibly short-sighted. Derby got themselves into an awful mess last season because their wealthy chairman, a lifelong fan, Lionel Pickering, put the club up for sale having run up massive debts since they were relegated from the Premiership in 2002.

That gave the opportunity for a consortium of chancers to sweep in, buy the thing for £3, re-mortgage the ground to some unknown Panama firm and then start drawing salaries and claiming expenses - while not investing a single penny. It took a miraculous feat to avoid relegation before the Co-op Bank pulled the plug and took a huge financial hit to write off a substancial chuck of debt, and the current board came in.

Doughty might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the guy has bankrolled the club for the past seven or eight years. Our situation could be a sh*te side worse with a bunch of fly-by-nights in charge.

I think that's worth remembering before launching into a tirade about protests and board changes. The grass ain't always greener and it's naive to assume that anyone would be overly interested in investing heavily in a third division club on its knees.

We don't need a new take over though. We have no debt worries and all we need money for is a few players to strengthen the side. He says he will do this therefore, what is the problem?? Fans like you put the club down How can you be a supporter if you're slating the club the whole time?

This forum has less than 2000 members, which I imagine is one of the largest memberships, forestfans.net has around 1200.

Assuming 6 (?) forums with an average of 1200 members results in around 7000 members. Are you suggesting that almost 30% of these people will not renew. Taking these statistics to their conclusion you could expect around 600 people from LTLF alone not to renew. I doubt if their are 600 regular posters on this forum.

Personally I think that's bollocks!

Indeed. Plus there's a lot of overlap between the forums in terms of cross-posting of members. I think the (admittedly not as much as I'd have liked) reduction in prices will temper the majority of the waverers.

Its tempting me, and the Yeovil match was the only match I've paid for in a good while ;)

Even so, as much as I want ND out I don't think that staying away is the answer.

If this summer ends like the last one - with practically no improvements made to the squad - then fans should get their bums on seats and make their voices and protests heard at games. There is no point in sitting at home sulking about it.

I intend to renew, I don't particularly enjoy watching us play but I am a fan and am hooked badly on Forest and could not be without it.

Therefore I will renew my ST for the rest of my life if possible!

Derby did it and you've seen where they are now.

Forest did the same as Derby. The difference is that Derby made a good managerial appointment and had a slice of luck and as a result are in the Premiershiop next season. Forest made a poor appointment (Platt), didn't get lucky and nearluy went bust. It's a fine line but we gambled and lost. Derby would have been in the same boat had they lost yesterday.

Everyone needs to foregt about Derby and get behind our team for next season.

Well, the lame tacky renewal packs have arrived but no new players have arrived.

How predictable.

9 Released and at least two being sold (Commons & Grant Holt) Thats an entire first team!

So the squad which has failed TWICE at third tier level is now weaker than ever. Fantastic.

Leeds United are favourites and a whole host of other clubs and wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.

But what is happening at forest? Sod all - as usuall.

calderwood is on holiday even though he only has 6/7 games to save his ass. (Remember YEOVIL any one?) mark arthur is on some foreign freebie jolly up linked to his lofty position and little old nige is busying arguing with the British Bat Society as his windfarm empire also begins to crumble.

The club has been run into the ground while Derby's rises from the ashes, all the way to 44000!!!

Every thing is being down sized to match the size of doughtys ambitions.

For a club with such a huge fan base the events of the past 5/6 years are simply now unacceptable.

Every decent young player has been sold, hiding behind the story line that the funds are needed to balance the books.

From top to bottom the entire club is a shambles and we have become a National laughing stock.

I know there are a certain section of supporters (Younger mostly) who will go regardless because they genuinely love the club. To you, I take my hat off. I admire your devotion. Long may it continue.

But for older fans like me who have seen the good times, from Wembley trips to 40000 home crowds, the current plight is no longer acceptable.

For me there is only one protest left. With hold my season ticket money. I can no longer stomach handing over £450+ to a club who continue to go backwards.

Its the only way to get a message across to a hard nosed Venture Capitalist like doughty. Hit him in the pocket.

I will still attend games, but only when it suits me.

Its time for the boot to be on the other foot!
